Good Morning all!
I believe the ones you buy also "eat" 30 minutes each time they are used not just the first time. At least the one we bought for our daughter did. With her "I'm A Sailor" call she called me and talked for 10 min (used 40) called her grandma and talked for 5 min (used 35) called her dad and talked 5 min (used 35) called her boyfriend and talked 10min (used 40). she talked a total of 30 minutes and but used 150 minutes. There wasn't enough time left on her card to make another call so she called me back collect. Boyfriends cell wouldn't except collect calls hehe. I have Sprint and it did. $10 for 10 minutes but I would have paid $100 for a 10 min call lol.
Welcome to all the new Members!
Also, welcome and thank you to turtle3 and selaine6 for helping sjtina out on the 800 Division Discussion!
Usually when you buy a Calling Card..they are automatically activated at the register...they should give you an activation receipt like you do when you buy a gift card (most do).
The Free ones from callsforrecruits are not on an actual card....they give you the PIN numbers for the cards (they send you 9 at a time) and then the phone number to call for the initial use with the steps on how to use them.
Stephanie (Ship 13 Div 313) who is here on your PIR group has made a word.doc that she made for them. It is designed like a real calling card would be with the PIN on it and instructions. I think she has done it where all nine are on the page and then they can be cut apart...that way if the recruit wants to hand them out to other recruits(which is part of the idea) they just cut it out and give it to them...rather than writing everything down. It is on her Profile Page in the comment column. The above link will take you to her Profile Page.
The callsforrecruit cards are thirty minutes each and the first ten get eaten up (like the first 30 on a larger card). We were told they were one use as only twenty minutes remain...EX: 10 minutes eaten ten minute phone call...then only en left...and does it "eat" that again. I don't see why it would as the ones you buy don't take another thirty...it's only initial use. So anyone who finds out...report in!
I think the calls for recruits cards may already be activated. I am not sure how many minutes are on them though. They are a one use card so if they use one and run out of them I would guess they would have to call again. The ones you buy you just follow the directions on the card to activate it. Some of them can have more minutes added to them.
Hello, are the callsforrecruits.org calling cards already activated? How do you "activate" a calling card? thanks for your help.
You can also send one now but no need to worry. They are allowed to buy one at the NEX if they don't have one. It can just be hard to go there because they can only go when they are told to and sometimes they get surprise calls and may not have had a chance to get one yet. Just be aware that most of the cards use 30 min of time just to make a call from a calling card. So if they make a call to your home and you don't answer then they call your cell and you get to talk for 30 min they have used an hour and a half of minutes on their card. So they need lots of minutes, especially for their "i'm a Sailor" call. It is also a good idea to activate it before you send it to save them precious call time.
