Welcome to PIR 09/28/2012!

OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Should have it soon...

My son shipped on monday 7/30, got the call at 11:30pm AZ time, letter arrived saturday 8/4, and box arrived monday 8/6. The box was delayed because the shipping label had the wrong zip code so it went to CA before getting to AZ or the box would have arrived first.

LBTRS - Good to have a experienced Navy recruiter here.  You will be asked quite a bit.  I know I will.

With your wife.  Just start telling her what this group is saying.  She soon go from "What are they saying today" to "You're not telling me the whole story, I'm going to look myself".  Guys never get into the same level of details as moms.

Per the bootcamp stuff, I know that piece of the puzzle.  FTLW posted this in the above section.  Here is the day-per-day rundown on what your recruit is doing:

http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433

Here is some other stuff that may help too....

http://www.navyformoms.com/group/ctratemoms/forum/topics/boot-camp-...

I will be hitting you up on the recruiting information stuff...  So be prepared.  I'll get the official manuals posted above in the "pages" area, because I know you'll be referencing them a lot...

Again, welcome aboard.....

Ugh...forgot to say that...
Just because the site is an open forum...don't let that keep you from posting! We want to here that your getting letters/phone calls...how your day is going...how your doing etc. I always hesitate posting "business"...but feel far worse when I don't and someone has an unhappy experience because of it. I have been on here for a year and post freely...and feel very supported...we want you to as well.

ADDED the link for your MEET and GREETS that have the links to their event page on here...there is a brief description of each one that is available to you.

The MEET and GREETS are for friends and family that are attending PIR to meet each other the night before PIR.

Okay...I finished loading up the Discussion Forum area with info about BC, PIR etc.

We seasoned/veteran moms spend most of our time here on the main boards. The reason being that we have 7-8 PIR groups running at one time. We do try to go through the Division Discussions (we will continue to form them as we get info from you about them. RTC posts this on their website eventually so we can confirm) as often as we can...mostly, personally I like to leave them to you!)

Please try to direct any questions for us here on the main board...but feel free to respond/ask questions on the information Discussions as well. If it is something you are not comfortable posting on the public pages please feel free to" friend" me or one of the other veteran moms if need be.

This group and all of it's content (as well as most of the site...your private messages are private though) are public...we do that to be open and inviting to anyone who wishes to join. Many will only read as they are not as comfortable posting as others. We would rather make it easy for members to join and help coach you about OPSEC (OPerational SECurity), than members feel frustrated. Besides...there is never a better time than now to start learning! It will last for your Sailors career.

Please make sure you read the N4M's Community Guidelines...there are also articles and video links for OPSEC.

Thank you and I look forward to hangin' with you for the next eight weeks!
