Got a letter from my son last nite. He is doing well, 4.76 so far. Glad to read that he is doing good, was worried for a min. Glad to read that all are doing good! He is handling the IT pretty well, wish he could shower more though! lol

Morning all, I am somewhat of a weather nut. I live in Texas, that should explain it. Anyway, I see the temperature in Chicago is 54 this morning. Brrrrrrr. It is only supposed to get to the 70's today up there. Pack accordingly. We may get lucky enough to get there during Indian summer but I wouldn't bet my bottom dollar. You may want to add gloves to your list of what to pack. Steering wheels can be very cold in the morning. Anything below 65 and for me it is time to break out the sweats. Everyone have a great day. Fingers crossed for mail.

Jane, I believe that LTLY posted in August that she saw a paycheck deposited for her husband, so I feel sure that there is money in your son's account now. Hopefully you will get a statement soon from Navy Fed for Aug. Mine for my son hasn't arrived yet.

bonniem: As you are finding out, the sadness in missing your recruit usually is replaced during the 2nd half of bc with excitement and joy that they are almost done! Then after PIR, there is sadness again saying goodbye until cell phone contact and maybe skyping is on the scene. You will find that the sadness and frustration during the first half of bc is like no other. Well, I'm sure that when they are deployed on a ship or overseas with limited contact, that is hard too. For sure. But in bc, none of us know what is going on...just that we can't get to our kids! It gets better, as you are finding out. You have nothing but excitement and joy to look forward to now as your son becomes a sailor soon!

Feels good to know I am not the only one who keeps all the letters in my pocketbook. I have read them many times now. It just makes him feel close.

sondra: I haven't received my son's Aug Navy Fed statement yet, so you may still get one if he opened an account. I know that I get all of them here at my home.

I got a 10 page letter today! Sheesh...it was the longest letter that said nothing, lol! I mean it was full of I love you's and I miss you's but no info on anything really. He did get wisdoms pulled and a filling. His PFA's are good. He is rhythmically challenged and said drill is tough to get a bunch of uncoordinated guys to turn on a dime and stay in step. Said he is getting a case of OCD with cleaning things and that I should appreciate that (and I do!) lol. Seemed pretty up beat considering the situation. He was having fun with the weapons training and said that they get to be armed now for watch (but not with live rounds). So that was cool. I can breathe again for a few days, lol.

JaneShip...There was a phone number for the photos I got off a previous post, but I haven't called it yet. Here it is if you would like to try it. Perhaps, they can get you the information. 847-578-6205. Hope this helps.

Finally got home and got my letter. I know I told them to take care of business first and call or write second. But Jeeez, I think he wrote more on the envelope. He must be super busy, because all he could say was basically - love you and thanks for everything. I truly hope we are not Grad n Go.

Am I the only one whos not sad anymore. I still miss em, and still obsess on this site, and still hum anchors aweigh all day, but not really missing them. Maybe because I have tickets etc.

I think I may take a pic of the inside of the fridge. I never knew the inside was white and that the shelves were clear! The freezer still has the same containers of ice cream from when they left, guess i should throw that out. Maybe I will put a copy in the next letter. I also took a pic of my command post to send to them. One has a U shaped desk, so my laptop is between their desktops and their FB's are open. The dep book is in the background and so are the tide sticks and the new rubiks cube. For the last 2 years I had a rubiks cube in my car, I would scramble it up and when my son got in the car he would "right" it. This was our little ritual. My neice took it out of the car on the day my son left and someone else claimed it. I bit my lip. Now I have a new one. Some new and improved deal with batteries.

Sorry for rambling on.
