N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Sorry, I meant coins, not medals.

Good Morning!

@NausetMom and Marcelle - it's nice to see that our SRs are adding their personal touches to the form letter. It's remarkable how an iota of information can mean so much. It sounds like they are doing wonderfully.

@Jen - it sounds like your son is doing well. His comment about his petty officer is telling - his sense of humor is in tact!

A couple questions: Has anyone seen the Facebook posting on Division medals? I noticed that specific ships have different themes. For instance, Ship 12 is a sub, some are aircraft carriers, performers, etc. So, you moms in 12/387, are your SRs assigned to subs? Mine is, though don't know if he is reclassified.

Secondly, is anyone thinking graduation gifts? There's a link on this page with great information, as is consistent with this entire site! I am thinking of getting my son a watch, especially with no cell phone access on sub. I know the trip to graduation is very costly, especially for so little time with our Sailors. There is a full range of options.

Diannep - =) New York City is georgeous, but beyond busy near Christmas. I hope he gets based somewhere warm. =) I hate cold, expecially New York last year it hardly snowed but was Sooo cold. What's the point in winter and being cold if there's no snow =)

Proudmama-

I love the code idea. I have not had any security calls yet and i hope I dont. He filled that extensive questionaire already and then had someone meet him in our town for a 3 hour interview of more questions. If they don't have all they need about his life already then i have to wonder why they bothered doing all that stuff up front.

Good Morning Everyone,

I pray that everyone gets their letter today.

I am finally going to leave the house for a few hours. I go back to work next week, so I need to get used to not stalking mailman but cell is attached at all times.

Heading to beach for a few hours w/daughter who is also leaving for college (Drexel in a few weeks) she is my SR's older sister *(21)  she is really missing him. She has always been like a mother hen with him. LOL... Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

God Bless.

Thanks so much everyone we really appreciate all your thoughts and prayers. They admitted her to ICU. She has way too much carbon dioxide which is exactly what i thought. We have seen this several times with her and you begin to know the signs. Sadly she is on lots of medication. She was a smoker, quit 20 years ago but so much damage was already done. She has COPD and her lungs are just terrible. So she breaths in (Oxygen 24/7) but has such shallow breaths she doesn't release enough carbon dioxide. She also has congestive heart failure and Parkinson's disease and is on a blood thinner. They found that her heart medication was way too high a dose and was also cause many of the problems. So they took her off that and will be doing something different with a lower dose. We are getting ready to meet with the doctor in about an hour. I told her I have hundreds of people praying for her and she had a huge smile on her face. We really appreciate all your thoughts and prayers. After we meet with the doctor I will come back home and finish up my work I did last night take that all to the PO and then head back to the hospital this afternoon. I cannot even begin to express how much I appreciate all of you <3

I dunno, Mandy....I have heard NY City is pretty spectacular during the holidays....but a little brrrrrrrrr !  Pensacola should be warmer, but being in the panhandle of our state, it can get nippy up there.  You will have to visit us here in S FL to get your WARM WEATHER!  :-)

Good idea, proudmama!  But if they call with a cold, you may misinterpret their "sniff!"  :-)  When they are short and to the point, they just won't be able to devulge personal info (they are being eagle-eye watched by staff then!).  Just to hear their voices though was a lift, right?  Hoping "supervised" calls are followed by a nice personal call not too long afterwards!

Good Morning All !

We need to teach our kids codes when they call for info.... like cough if everything is ok, sniff,,,, if they are in trouble... etc. hahaha Desperate times call for desperate measures! I'm about to order pizza for all the heads of the 800 division!!! Do you think that would work????
