OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My son just called!!! It was so nice to hear his voice! He is doing well, except for his feet. He has bad blisters and is only allowed athletic shoes for the next few days. He has made some friends and sounded confident! He told us....I GOT THIS!!! Maybe now I will start sleeping!! Each day we get closer to seeing our loved ones! I am son proud of him!!!

I'm glad you guys are getting a call. Still waiting for my call. Ship 4 / div. 820. Hopefully hear something today or tomorrow. I feel little better that all of you guys are feeling the same way I do. We can get through this together.

No form letter from my son Ship 12 Div 387  -  has anyone from this Ship/div received the official letter.  His recruiter told me he is on this ship 12/div but I do not want to make any plans for graduation until I know for sure.

Got my first call home this morning!  Ohhhhhhhhh how good to hear his voice!  Said he was doing good, he sounded up beat and good!  Said he had blisters but was using mole skin and medicine the doc gave them.  He said the food was good and he is eating good but not sleeping much.  Said the RDC was really tough but he hadn't had any problems, said some people had gotten in trouble so they all got in trouble. Said it was really tough but he had expected that.  He also said he has met some nice people and made some friends.   All in all he was up beat and sounded good and was doing good! Praise God!

My SR said her feet hurt and that there is a lot of yelling she said she has meet cool people. she used all her time to talk to me dad, her sissy as she calls her and little brother. We had her on speaker so our dogs were going crazy they could hear her but not see her. Lol. We could hear yelling in the back ground. And yes their instructors are 800 div seals. She told us to tell everyone she loves and misses everyone. Oh she also mentioned that they can't mail anything til next week so that's probably why non of us have received personal letters. She said to post tell everyone I keep writing eventually we will get our letters.

**thank you everyone for all your support- it helps**

Got a phone call from my daughter.. Man was that emotional! She blew out her knee and wants to come home.. Said she is doing physical therapy.. Passed all her physical text except for one and said they made her feel like crap for not passing it.. Said yelling and screaming at her all the time. I kept encouraging her it will get better.. Said she feels like she is the only one who wants to give up and go home.. I text her grandmas and the drove like manics to get over and talk to her.. So she got to talk to everyone!!! I hope and pray she can get through this.. Been crying since I got off the phone.. No letters yet and haven't been able to write either.. Said maybe this Sunday.. One really said mom I am right now.. I just want to hug her!!
