N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello! Our daughter arrived at GL on Tuesday. I'm guessing that 10/11 will be her PIR dye...though we're ill win on the "box" and the orm letter.
I was told by someone that an SR cn use graduation passes of other SRs not having family present. Is that true?
Thanks!

RattownMom:  We have found that sometimes, the number of guests listed on the form letter is incorrect, so we have to wait for RTC to post the divisions for this PIR group before it can be confirmed.  It will either be 4 (12 divisions or less in this group) or 3 (13 divisions and more).  Hoping that this PIR group has 12 divisions or less so that extra guest can go!  They do not let extras in anymore...like they did in the past...so if a person's name is not on the updated guest list (SR updates shortly before PIR), they will not be allowed on base.  Even active duty military/retired military now have to be listed.

Good Morning All !  Hope you have a great weekend!

Welcome to the new members of this group.  Be sure to read the "pages" section under the MEMBERS PHOTO BOX above and to the right.  Lots of info for you there.  We will be adding info as bootcamp goes along.

Comment by RattownMom on August 17, 2013 at 2:38am

For all those who got the form letter already did it say whether there will be 3 or 4 guests allowed at PIR?

Comment by diannep on August 16, 2013 at 11:16pm

Marcelle:  The recruiters get the info from the computers.  However, occasionally, a division is moved into another ship (barracks) later.  SO that is why we tell you all to compare the two addresses (recruiter's and form letter) and make sure they are the same---form letter is the correct one.  If you wrote to the recruiter's address and it was wrong (usually division number is right and that is the important part!), the letters will still get there, just may take a little longer.

Hi, my son's recruiter gave the ship/division information. I was wondering why it would change from the form letter.  I was wondering, if the recruiter gets the information ahead of time. I was hoping my son would raise his hand for the music division, he is an excellent musician, but I think he thought it would be too much pressure. The info I got from recruiter was not the music division.

Ladies,

When your SRs finally get to call very soon (like maybe this weekend), the area code will most likely show "847", but it could be any other area code so pick up all calls and if it is a solicitor, just tell them politely, "no, thank you."  Keep your cell phones near you and fully charged at all times,Take it to the bathroom, outside with you, upstairs, in the basement.  If your SR calls the home phone, have calls forwarded to your cell when you are out and about!!  If you are going to some place somewhat loud, put your phone on vibrate and then in your pocket or bra to be sure not to miss the call~~
