N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Wow lots of info, finally got the box, so happy for those two dirty sox, underware, piled up shirt headphones, it appears he did not learn to fold yet. The box was sent 8/9, just got it today. Havent rec'd the letter yet, if he spelled my first name wrong will that keep me out of pir? And wow I hope they dont read the letters outloud. Bug I have heard lots of stories.

Never heard of that, always&forever and don't think they could force them to do that.  Their mail is private, unless there is something that makes the RDCs suspicious so they have to open it in front of them--and even then, the letters should not be read outloud or by others.  Maybe that is where the rumor started?  That since some may have to open the letters in front of the RDCs (too thick letters, something in one that shouldn't be)...that someone figured that they have to read them outloud.  Don't think that is true.

Good morning!  Fitness my son (and proudmma's) is not a diver but is a swimmer so they are in the same division.  I've found that if I keep really busy I don't have time to dwell on him.  My other son's girlfriend is coming to visit this weekend so I've had to clean up his bedroom for her - almost done, which - while very difficult to do mentally (constant reminders of him - seriously why did he need sooo many pairs of swim fins!) - has kept me super busy!

Fitness- my son is not going to be a Navy Diver... but my son in law IS a Navy Diver... friend request me if you want to talk!

Hmmm words of wisdom for a mom who can't stop crying.... oh wait... that sounds like me! LOL   I think we are all making this adjustment... I think what helps me most is reading N4M's- getting info-and then taking some time for me to adjust to my new life. I will let you know when I arrive!

Hello friends! I don't know about you but it feels as if my sailor has been gone forever:( I am constantly weepy thinking about him.. He has a navy diver contract and I know his division is a bit different. Any others in this division? I just worry about the lack of sleep, staying healthy, and not getting hurt! Yes, I am a HUGE worry wort lol. We received his box and letter today yeah!!!! At least I can focus on getting tickets and such for graduation:) If any of you have any words of wisdom for a mom who can't stop crying, I would love it:)
