N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command updated their FB page 7 minutes ago addressing the Govt shutdown. "There have been no changes to the graduation dates for recruits at Recruit Training Comannd due to the government shudown. All PIR's will continue as scheduled. Any changes to this will be posted on facebook." ........  For those who do not have facebook.

I'm wondering if the shutdown will affect the veterans receiving their housing allowances/book stipends if in school...like my son.  He is supposed to be paid this week.  UGH!.

Shutdown looms as House delays ACA in stopgap spending bill that now moves to the Senate

By Jessica Zigmond

Posted: September 29, 2013 - 11:00 am ET

Defying Senate Democrats and critics in their own party, House Republicans pushed through a short-term spending bill early Sunday that increases the likelihood of a government shutdown by requiring a one-year delay in implementing and funding the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The measure also would allow employers and healthcare providers to opt out of mandatory contraception coverage included in the ACA. The bill is seen as dead on arrival in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

With two days left in the fiscal year, House members changed the Senate's recently passed stopgap spending measure with one amendment to postpone the healthcare reform law and another amendment to repeal law's 2.3% medical device excise tax. Senate leaders have said neither measure will pass in the upper chamber, which heightens the possibility that government operations will shut down after Sept. 30 unless lawmakers can reach an agreement.

The last government shutdown was 17 years ago. About 800,000 federal workers deemed non-essential would be furloughed, and millions more would work without being paid. But the House bill would ensure that all military personnel would continue to be paid

This question has been asked on the RTC facebook page in the comments section of a statement put out by RTC concerning this matter...it has not beenanswered yet (may not have been "spotted" yet). Here is the body of the text as well as a link toan article (possibly the one you were referring too).

Based on what I read...there isn't anything definite they can tell you. It's a "wait and see, then we'll go from there and let you know as soon as we do..."

As Congress continues to come up with a resolution for the budget, Recruit Training Command has already made steps to ensure recruit training will continue as normal. If, for any reason, changes occur that would interupt training, posts on facebook will be made available to update family and friends.

Concerned about Gov Shutdown, could this affect PIR's. SR graduating 10/11. Also, read article about A school being delayed. Does any veteran moms know if they would still fly out and just wait til the shut down is over or do they cancel their flights too.???
