OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

lenrose,

Please contact Craig on any of the coin pages in the middle look for Answers and Questions, there is Ask a Question in blue.  Let him know you are looking for the USS Marvin Shield and can you pay for it and he can ship it as soon as it comes in?  You still have time as your PIR is next week.  Let him know the last day you need to have it by.  He will get back to you really quickly!!

Panic mode. Just recently learned about the challenge coin. Used the link and none left :( Unavailable. I need the USS MARVIN SHIELD SHIP 13 DIVISION 385. Ay other links to go to? Running out of time. Feeling like everything is falling apart :( I have limited access to a computer. I want this to be a special day and now I feel like I will be letting my son down if I don't present him with one.

Gate pass printed, challenge coin arrived, room reserved.  Now we wait for the next call from our SR stating he is a SAILOR!  Extremely excited and proud!

OOOPS!  Meant....google things to do in Chicago in OCTOBER!

Comment by diannep on September 30, 2013 at 8:41am

Yes you are, mcfall.  But keep track of your time since they cannot be late returning to RTC.  Yes, taking the train is the best way to go, so many say.  It is right next to RTC.  It is probably best to google:  Things to do in Chicago in November.  There is LOTS to do in Chicago.  I'm sorry we missed seeing it when we were there (middle of winter....too cold!).

Good Morning All !

I know it has probably been mentioned but are we allowed to take our new graduates into Chicago? I also saw where the train station is across the street from RTC so is the train the best mode of transportation? What are the best activities to do in Chicago on limited time? The tour looks nice. Last but most important what are the best food sources for out new grads?
