~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

JerseyPeach,
You should be able to post a comment in the big empty "Reply" box up top, then hit "Add Reply" and your comment will go to the bottom of the thread or if you see a particular comment you want to post, hit the small "reply" and and a smaller area will open up for you to post there. Hope that helps!
ADMINS......why cant I post in my ship group?
Thanks for the information diannep! We are staying with family that live 9 miles from the base, so we may just get them to drop my Mom and I off at the gate. Is there access to bathroom facilities? I ask due to family member attending has medical issues that sometimes can be a problem. How long or far is the walk from the gate to PIR area? I just want to be sure there is no issues with regards to my Mom. thanks
It is not far at all, chi'sMom: Many do this and have said it was easier to leave RTC after PIR and miss the traffic going off-base. I believe there is a small charge for the parking, however. Not positive on that though.
chi's Mom/Ship 12/Div 388..How far is the walk from the train station/metra from the gate and PIR area? I am thinking this will be the easiest way to go instead of waiting in traffic.
Just what he needs to hear, McEastcoastmom! So many are afraid that being delayed for any reason is a disappointment to their families. All we can do is encourage them to "set their caps" for that SAILOR goal...and get there in their own way! My son was asmoed for a week when he was there....but he became a sailor and that was the good part!
romihart: Correct, the gate pass is only for the cars driving onto base, whether for PIR or when returning your sailor that night to base (for those flying out....A School students will move over there shortly after PIR concludes). Shuttles and those who park outside (train station) and walk do not need the gate pass.
Good Morning All !
Good Morning. Only 3 weeks more to go. I pray our SR's stay healthy and uninjured for the rest of this journey. My SR was injured early on and appears to be doing much better now but this process is such a roller coaster. I never know from day to day or week to week if all is well and on scheduled for the same PIR. I did tell my son to not worry about graduation date, just do his best and get to the finish line. I sent him a card that said, "No matter what your day brings , I will be there for you through all of them." With that i let him know that even if graduation is 4 weeks late, I will be there. When he called last week, he said, "dont worry Mom, I got this". It was so nice to hear him confident again but it does not keep Mom from worrying. :)
Marcelle,
You can call Sarge at 847-212-0246~~
romihart,
Yep, you're correct!!
diannep you don't need a password unless you park on base?
