~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Aww, thanks, CatMom509. You made me smile. I cried a total of 4 times today. 3 little ones and one BIG one. My staff was wonderful, they screened my calls and helped me get out a little early. One of the girls positioned a partition between my desk and the news feed so my eyes wouldn't keep being drawn to the DC coverage (even though my heart and prayers were with them I would have gotten nothing done) and another quietly came and lit the blue candle that sits on my desk. What is really amazing is that none of those girls are moms. They know my SR and are fond of him but they seemed to understand I needed a mental health day and helped me have it. I feel much better tonight.

Hello,
"May Your unfailing love be my comfort,
according to Your promise to your servant."
Psalm 119:76
Felicia: Also, check out Navy Lodge and see if you can use a rollaway or two and share a room if need be. They have good rates ($67-$71, I believe). You book the room in your SR's name and tell them you are there for Navy Graduation.
For those booked/booking on Southwest Airlines into either Chicago-Midway or Milwaukee: I understand that the airlines will give you a coupon/code for a cheap car rental when booking your flights with them. This was shared by someone who had a SR graduate a few months back.
When booking with the discount sites on the internet, be sure you know what penalty there is if you have to cancel for any reason. I felt so badly for a lady in a past group whose SR was asmoed, and she was trying to "sell" her hotel room online since they wouldn't give her a refund with the discount group she was with. So know the consequences just in case before booking!
Just to let you all know...there are no graduation "tickets" persay....they go by the names on the list. And yes, Felicia, you will be fine with all 4 on the list and the 6 mo old not having to be on it.
Actual flight plans will not be known to the sailors until shortly before PIR. Plans can change. So we tell all of you to try and stay until Sunday if possible just in case....or at least until Sat night.
chi'sMom: Yes, they have a curfew after Liberty and they CANNOT be late. Stiff penalties for that. And, yes, sailors are transported to the airports by the Navy...and families can meet them there. It takes a while for them to process all of the sailors at the airlines counters so you will not be able to be with your sailors right away. I have been told by some that they went out there at 4 a.m. and it was a good time...they were able to be with their sailors then, but of course, this varies from week to week. The sailors are normally bussed out there between midnight and 2 a.m. usually. Be sure to get your sailor's flight info after PIR....airport, time of departure, etc. Family members need to all take ID to the airports in order to get an airlines gate pass to wait until departure with their sailors. The airlines/security are very strict with this. There have been some who posted in previous groups that forgot their ID and were not able to go out to the gate with their sailors.
...I should add that if flying out, you would also be able to meet her at the airport on Saturday and wait until her plane leaves (with ID).
Felicia: Did you call Residence Inn and ask for the Navy Graduation rate? They have a 2 bedroom 2 bath....with a sleeper in the sofa which would work for you. It IS a bit pricey though....even with the discount. But it still may be cheaper than getting 2 rooms. The Residence Inn is in Waukegan/Gurnee area, 4 miles from RTC. Near Sarge's MeetandGreet.
If she is flying out, you most likely will not get the whole weekend with her....probably just Friday. If staying in GL for A School, you will have Daytime Liberty with her for the whole weekend.
Prayers for the D.C. situation:
