N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The GLTC website is www.bootcamp.navy.mil   Click on the tab for "Families" then "Graduation" then "Upcoming Graduations"  Look for the 10/11 date which is TG48 and it says 12 divisions with 4 guests each.    This site also has a lot of other valuable information about boot camp and graduation.

boocoo:  It seems in every PIR group recently, some RDCs are telling a division that they may only have 3 guests, not 4.  So NOT true.  As it states on the RTC page, 12 divisions or less in a PIR group = 4 guests, and this group has 12.  So the guest number will remain at 4.

Edie-Oh good. Atleast you got one. Sometimes they can not call if they have watch or had to go to medical. I was lucky to get one yesterday because he called his best friend first and had just 10 minutes left for me. Sunday he spoke to his dad. I hope you hear from him soon.

Comment by Edie on September 12, 2013 at 12:59pm
My sons form letter says four guest too.
I've two minor children and traveling all the way from oh. So I hope it is still four guest.

Yes one on Sunday. Was only 4 min because he was having trouble with the calling card.
But I see some people get multiple calls. Just worried because he sounds upset.
Comment by chi's Mom on September 12, 2013 at 12:48pm

boocoo, my understanding is 4 guest per form letter and this page (ship 12/388).  I am glad there are at least 4 due to our guest list because it could have been 3 if there were more than 12 divisions due to limited seating.  Mammakay, your SR's brothers and sister can watch it on the live feed the day of the graduation.  I have more family that would have come but plan on watching it live that morning.

Edie- You have not gotten a call from your SR?

Comment by mommakay (Ship 11/Div 384) on September 12, 2013 at 12:35pm

My sons form letter listed 4 guests.  I just wish they would at least let the SR's immediate family attend PIR.  My SR is the 2nd oldest of 6 and his brothers and sisters were disappointed that they can't see him graduate!
