N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I made it to VA :) I absolutely love coming to a military town. No matter where you go you see people everywhere in uniform. At home it is rare to see someone in a military uniform. My problem is I want to go up to all of them and hug them and tell their Moms love them :) There's so many there would be time for anything else lol.

Thanks Dianne, I am taking every opportunity I can get to spend with my Sailor and grand baby. When they relocate to CA in the spring I am going to go nuts with them being so far away. I wonder if I took a part time job with a travel agency would that give me free travel lol

The popups on my computer are driving me insane, glad my SIL is an IT :) Hopefully he can fix it tomorrow when he gets off work.

munchkinmom:  The important part of the form letter is the password which your daughter would have written in it, so she will need to tell you that.  That will be used to download your PIR gate pass shortly before PIR.  I had heard that they can only request a 2nd letter in the case of a divorce situation.

Maybe it is just delayed in the mail....lets hope it arrives in a few days.  But if not, just make sure to write and ask your daughter for that password.  The rest of the info you will need you can get on this site or in the Family Guide on the RTC site.

MamaDragon....my son called this evening and he is also from 948. He is the EPO and said they earned their Academic Flag. Says his group is pretty young and likes to talk. He said that his next call would be at week 7 unless he earns one.

Chi's mom, so glad you got the call! You are very generous to open your arms and heart to the new Sailors that will not have family for this exciting time in their lives. My SR also has a job as a ship Yeoman for Ship 12. I am glad your daughter is doing so well. Best hopes for all of our SR's.

munchkinmom, I think I saw really early on in a discussion, it may have been on the boot camp mom's group that she can request another form letter be sent. Maybe diannep can help.

I am really getting concerned that my daughters form letter hasn't arrived.  She has been in bc since August 14th.  Is there any way to check into this?  When we spoke last week she said her husband should have received it last week

paigesmom-Maybe she had watch or wisdom teeth pulled. I saw on FB that ship 12 Div 387 called last night. One of the parents said that they had wanted her daughter to go to medical for something and she didnt go because she had not wanted to miss her call but she had just had her teeth pulled too.
