N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Got a call today!  Only talked about 20 min because she wanted to call her grandpa.  But was so good to hear her sweet voice and she sounded really good.  Said they have a big test on Tuesday and that everyone in the division does good they will get rewarded with more phone calls home.  So pray they all do good!  Complained about not getting to spend much time outside, I was a little surprised by that.  Said everyone was starting to get the hang of things.  I can't wait until Oct. 11th!

Daughter also said even though taps is at 10 and reveille is at 6, they only get 3-4 hours sleep max, with all the things they have to do, and the occasional cat fight.

Call rcvd. from ship 4 div. 380 daughter!!  They will not get any extra holiday time for Labor Day.  They get 5 hours holiday routine every Sunday, and an extra 15 minutes hygiene time on Sundays.  There are about 88 girls, and 2 poles with 6 shower nozzles each, so 12 twelve showers total.  They are only allowed to shave their legs on Sundays (sorry for TMI any guys reading this).  If they are good today they will get an extra 2 hours tonight to study for tomorrow's first academic test, which will include ship and aircraft recognition, UCMJ, first aid, and chain of command.  Some recruits fall asleep in class.  If that happens, the whole class has to stand for the rest of the class period.  She said they usually kick the chairs in front of them to keep each other awake.  Our 13 minutes went way too fast!!

I don't want to say what for to keep his privacy but please pray for my SR. He has to go to medical and I'm a little worried. He really doesn't want to go but they say he has to. I'm sure it's nothing but the word Mom is synonymous with Worrywart.

Happy for all the Mom's receiving phone calls.  This is one Labor day you will not forget.  Only 41 days until graduation.

Comment by WeeBee's Mom on September 2, 2013 at 11:56am

mammakay, we were also told that the phone banks had been taken out and that our SR needed to take his cell but he would only be able to make the I'm here call with it and then send it home and then any future calls would be made from the phone banks. That makes no sense. It is confusing but my attempt at a Sherlock Holmes impersonation tells me that there may have been phones at the actual RTC site at one time that were taken out. When my SR called, it kind of sounded like he was at the NEX. He had earned the privilege of a candy bar and said that he had to eat it before he left "here". I wonder if the phones aren't maintained by a contractor to the DOD and letters to Congressmen might not help.

Fitness123- my son is missing Portillos (a local's favorite)  and Buffalo Wild Wings, but says food is really good there too.
