~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

820 div... received my phone call! It was soooo wonderful to hear from him... Phone call quality was really, really poor...so sometimes it sounded like "wah wahwah", we would stop have him push the cord in or adjust the mouth piece and that helped! Soooo fantastic to hear from him! Bittersweet too-miss him, but proud of him too! Boo's mom... you "warned" me about that feeling... and I concur!
any moms on here with a son from Chapel? My SR said he was friends with him and he was pretty cool
I just got my call from my SR ship 4 div. 820!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy. He hates every minute of it. ( that's not why I'm happy LOL ) but he sounded good. no tears at least not from him. I asked him about loosing the phone privileges for not having the blankets folded right. He laughed and asked where did you hear that? He doesn't know I'm on navy moms or face book. I told him I have spies on him, I'm his mom he will never get away with things. He said foods great, restaurant quality. I asked better than mine and he just laughed. That kid always was a smart ***.. Any way can you tell I'm so happy. I hope you all get phone calls TODAY. I love my SR
820 is making calls right now !!
mommakay, I think that this change is coming, we have been hearing rumors of it for several months and I bet they won't fix or replace the pay phones that are there. My guess is that within a year they will make this change. 50/50 chance that I am either right or wrong lol
mommakay: In the past, they have only allowed the SRs to use their cells for initial calls home for the "I'm Here" call. Then they have to ship them back in the box with their personal belongings. So unless that policy has changed, and we haven't seen evidence of that in any of the active PIR groups now, then they will have to use the pay phones/office phones (for supervised calls when they need security info) for all calls after the initial "I'm Here" call.
haha.. Thanks diannep. I am for sure going to be carrying it there from here on out. :)
Lala...We were told by my sons recruiter to make sure he takes his cell and charger with him to BC because they will use them to make their calls home. The recruiter said last he heard was that they removed the pay phones and were going to cell use. I did let his recruiter know that the info he gave us was incorrect! He only made his initial call from his cell then it was sent back home! I do agree, the cell idea is much more time efficient then everyone waiting to use a pay phone!
Lala: Good idea! I nominate YOU to approach RTC with this idea! We will all "stand behind you!" But....yep....makes sense to me!
