N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I GOT A CALL 12/387 ARE MAKING CALLS.

NausetMom: my son and yours are best friends. He said they talk about all the time. They're bunk mates.

Not sure who this is but SR Nick D. also good friends with my son.

He sounded great, he said their division gets in trouble alot bc of talking, that some don't know when to be quiet.

Food is okay, he said the stuff they say to you when they are screaming in your face is unbelievable.

His nickname is Snook.... b/c we are from the Jersey Shore (Snookie)..

He got the bandaids!!!! wants another phone card.

they got 100.00 card to buy at NEX.

they have an inspection tomorrow. he passed all his PT tests and swimming.

He said they just try to stress you out all the time. If you can handle stress 24/7 then you will be okay.

proudmama, Great idea...

OK 5000 recruits, five minute phone calls for all, 10 hours to make all phone calls. One phone is 12 calls per hour, and 120 in ten hours. Five thousand recruits at 120 an hour is approx 42 phones. Adjust for up to 3000 more recruits at any time so 67 phones it is. Sixty-seven phones costing approx $200 each $13, 400 dollars with a line charge of approx 55 dollars per line per month for usage and maintenance $3685 additional dollars per month for the Navy, or the approx equivalent to two new sailors salary per month. New room to hold 67 phones $525,000.00, 8 full time RDCs to monitor the phones all day. Increase in utility expense for the new room $2000 a year.

Initial cost for 67 phones, approx $538,000. Approx annual additional cost for the new phone bank $46,000. Phone calls to loved ones from their recruits everyday PRICELESS!!!

I say go for it proudmama!

Lol proudmama I will absolutely let you know if I hear anything!!! I don't think I'm on Facebook with the group I will get on their now:)
Comment by ellen0502 on August 31, 2013 at 10:30am

proudmama, Phone calls are random and they can come at anytime. There are over 5000 recruits at RTC and only one phone bank. It's always a guess on calls and there is no way to know when a call will come for any TG group or division, other than the "I am a SAILOR" calls.

Look forward to a call at anytime, but never expect one!

Fitness123- Hey! That means you are an official member of my "sit and wait" club! I am going to sit here and hold my breath....concentrate real hard and see if that phone call will come for our division. Think it will work? hahaha

Let me know if you hear anything from you guy and I will do the same! Are you a member of the PIR 10/11/13 fb page?

Comment by fitness123 on August 31, 2013 at 10:17am
Proud mama, I'm thinking the same thing? I'm sitting here with my phone in my lap hoping he calls! I'm afraid to go hiking or anything with the fear I lose service and I miss his call... Ugh!
