OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Does anyone have an SR in Div. 388? I'm beginning to think my son is the only one in that division? LOL!!!!

I'm so happy for those that have gotten their first phone calls. I really hope I hear from mine soon. Savannah is my oldest and only daughter. She is strong willed and I'm just hoping she is hanging in there. She is Ship 12 DIV 387. Hoping to get a letter or call soon. And I pray to God its while I'm not at work tomorrow. I might get in trouble for carrying my phone on me but talking to her would be worth be written up for. Lol!

Awesome for you TritonMom. So what is his job going to be? Sounds like he is in his element!!!

I am so hoping the same for my son. Still waiting on that first call. Hope it's soon!!!

Okay Moms and Loved Ones, was awakened to first personal call! Yes, I was asleep by 10! Ship 12/387. "Hi Mom, what's going on?" ..."What's going on with you?"..."Well, you know, we sleep till 11, then go drinking, it's so much fun!!" His opening line! Okay he loves it! For real. They get no sleep, People mess up. People talk too much. He is on laundry detail. He loves this job. He got my letters and loves them. On laundry detail they march in a circle and throw clean laundry at the recruits. (I could hear the cadence in the background) They get up a 6, make bed, go to chow. No talking. Nobody or nothing is perfect, there's always something wrong. He didn't reclass as he planned to do. "Gotta go"....click. He earned this 5 minute phone call. Oh, and he is section leader and has been since day 1. So quick, ended abruptly. He loves it!! This is not my child! His bedroom has been declared "condemned" for the past 10+ years, and when asked to do a chore says, "alright, alright" and then his passive-aggressive tendencies come into full play! Oh, and he loves his uniform, was so proud when they were issued. A proud Sailor!

I hope so too Tammy. And Monday is a holiday, so that delays the mail! I have mailed 4 envelopes this week to my son with a few letters in each. Making sure they only need one stamp and are flat as a pancake!!! LOL!!!

Hi everyone...it's been awhile since we posted! We,re so looking forward to PIR and also meeting many of you!
Our daughter, in Div 381...brother/sister Div with 382, has called 3 times. She had to call for additional info for her top secret clearance. She's 30...quite mature...and I know she's watching out for her ship mates. That's how's she's wired. I've actually been praying that she doesn't try to bust up on any R D C that picks on her flock. She was a Master Trainer at 24 Hour fitness for 5 years before she enlisted. She loves The Lord...and she has a heart for younger folk. If she is with your ladies...she'll do what she can to watch over them.
