N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Raqi'smom,

Yes, your other children can get airport gate passes!  They will need their school photo id or their birth certificates.  Also, you won't be in a waiting room--you can wander the airport eateries, giftshops, and different waiting areas until your Sailor needs to be at his departing gate at least 1 hr prior to departure~~

Where is the HM A school?  Most leave sometime on Saturday, but there is always a slim chance some Sailors don't fly out until Sunday.  Won't know the flight plans until after your son completes Battlestations (their final true-to-life test!!)

we are planning to stay with our SR in the airport before he is leaving for A school. I wonder if my other 2 children (both under 12) can get passes to get in the waiting room.....Anyone know???  Is there a possibility that HM sailor leave GL on Sunday after PIR? I miss my son....!! Is there anyway that we can see pictures of them in the bootcamp?

I know our SR's use calling cards when they get to call home but my question is will the call always come from a 847 area code regardless of what type of calling card is used? My first (and only) call so far was from that area code.

On the grad gifts for the sailors....watches are good....some want new cellphones.  You can shop with them after PIR and let them pick something out...or....maybe give them a NEX gift card to use at A School.  They can wear a watch back to RTC, but won't be able to return with other gifts.  You can meet them at the airport to give them these gifts.  Those staying at GL for A School can return to that base with the gifts after their first day of Liberty...and beyond!

Driving from Navy Lodge to PIR is fine.  Just plan to leave early...and bypass RTC, turn around near the train station, and head back into RTC from the opposite direction where you should be able to turn right into RTC without waiting in the long line!  Or...if you don't want to drive, contact Sarge  847 212 0246 or

johnspadaro@att.net

and use his shuttle service ($3/pp each way).  The shuttles bypass the car line.

Hope you don't miss the next one, SeaWolfette!  Phone in the bra during bootcamp!

Good Morning All !

I missed my SR's phone call on Sunday and was sooooo frustrated.  Fortunately she was able to reach her sister so I was able to get a second hand update on how she is doing.  She said she's adapting to the schedule and getting good at sleeping standing up.  She received the first letter I sent her and didn't get any flack for it exceeding one postage stamp (I put a bunch of photos in it), which was a relief as I didn't learn until after I had mailed it that it is better to keep it at one-stamp size.  This Sunday my phone will not leave my side and I will keep the line clear.
