N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Katp:  This is what someone posted on TripAdvisor about tolls between Milwaukee and Great Lakes.

You could actually avoid the tollway if you are going directly from MKE to Great Lakes. At the Wisconsin - Illinois border US Hwy 41 cuts off from the Interstate and runs parallel to the tollway a few miles east of it. There are some traffic lights, but traffic moves fast and it would only at a few minutes to your time.

I have found that i don't usually mind paying for toll roads because they often have a lot less traffic because people don't want to pay. If paying 5 bucks saves me 30 min driving I am all for it lol.

Good morning everyone :)

Katp:  It doesn't show tolls when I mapped from Mitchell Airport (Milwaukee) to Recruit Training Command.  So hopefully you will be fine!

Good Morning All !

Thanks Diannep, I went Milwaukee ! We booked with Southwest and they only fly to Midway or Milwaukee ! And I don't want to deal with traffic or toll roads ! So hopefully Milwaukee doesn't have toll roads ! I thank you all for the info, it makes going thru all this a lot easier ! :)
Comment by diannep on September 17, 2013 at 11:06pm

Katp:  Milwaukee is a shorter drive than Midway by about 15-25 min (depending on Chicago traffic).  No traffic in Milwaukee so it would be easier to get to GL from there, but really not a huge difference.

Thank you Bama Navy Mom. I actually just called and because we're civilians we have to fill out a form for a background check which takes 7-10 business days...(sigh)

Thanks Lala, less traffic is always good ! :)
Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on September 17, 2013 at 10:03pm

katp, Milwaukee may be just a tiny bit further but the traffic is usally much better so it can take less time.

Christian Soldier Mom......yes I ended up making reservations there seems a lot of the N4M Mom's go there.  I did not book until Sunday evening.  They did not have the large suites available but did have other rooms.  Call them they are very pleasant and rooms are cheap and updated from what everyone here had said.
