N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

They have to pay to send the piks home so many opt to keep them until PIR....sometimes the piks mailed arrive right before the family leaves for PIR anyway.  For those who cannot pay for them, or whose family offered to pay for them, like FTLW said....they can pay for them after PIR at the NEX.

The recruit can opt to send them home, if they don't then they will pick them up a few days before PIR. They can also pick them up on the day of PIR (not always the best time because it cuts into liberty time but you do what you gotta do :-)).

Here is a link that talks all about Recruit photos plus the Division t-shirts that can be ordered.

Division T-Shirts, Graduation Photos, The Keel, and DVD of PIR

Each Division designs and does the art work for their own personal flag. They will carry this flag at PIR. They will also have the opportunity to purchase t-shirts with the design on them.

Sometimes recruits will purchase these t-shirts for family or friends as gifts. BUT, on PIR weekend the MWR on RTC will accept orders (cash or credit ONLY) and by the Monday following PIR you can order directly from American Outfitters on the internet. Ordering is available for your PIR for about 10-18 months, ( 10 months viewable on the website, after that you have to call or email directly), after PIR weekend.

Thank you ellen0502! There's no way for family to purchase the packages (or dvd) so they come home for safe keeping?
Comment by ellen0502 on October 16, 2015 at 4:17pm

lonesome, The RTC only posts random training pictures, and they do post some of each PIR, but they do not post a picture of each graduate.

There are formal pictures taken and your SR can purchase them, and if the large package is purchased it include the KEEP (a yearbook of sorts for your recruits division and brother division). There is also a DVD of the ceremony that can also be purchased. Be sure to let your recruit know you would like to have them.

Does anyone here know if the Recruit Training Command Facebook page includes pictures of each/every graduate on their graduation day posts? Or if there's any photos available for purchase for those that can't attend? Thank You!

*Actually Lovell's closed in April.  You can find that info on their reservations page.  Very sad as we got great feedback on that restaurant!

Stevens of Gurnee is a restaurant that was highly recommended to me by one mom whose family business is in the food industry.  Very good food and atmosphere, she said!
