N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

rescueswimmermom:  Yes, the 800 division can go through anytime.  Do you happen to have their training week/day count?  That can help determine their BattleStations date.  I haven't received one yet.

Cynthiajb, thank you! That was the link I had seen previously but couldn't find! I appreciate it so much! And do you know if you have to sign up for the Meet and Greet ahead of time? Is that something that would be a good thing to attend?

Comment by diannep on November 7, 2013 at 2:28pm

ZacsMoms:  Plan to wear layers to PIR....Lake wind (RTC is very close to it!) is chilly!

Bring some things with you that you think your sailor may want to take to A School.  Maybe ask during the I'm a Sailor call what you should bring.  You can always return home with the "extras."  They are allowed their cellphone, laptop, ipods, a few civilian clothes (can wear when they phase up at A School).  If your sailor is flying out, you meet at the airport with these items....and to wait with your sailor until plane departure (bring ID for the airlines gate pass).  If staying in GL for A School, they can return to base with these things once they have moved over there.

Comfortable shoes are a must as there is a good bit of walking that day.  Beyond that, not much more to bring!  Just whatever you like!

Oh, and you can sign up for Sarge's shuttle service at his MeetandGreet, or contact him at:  847 212 0246 or email: johnspadaro@att.net

There is also an area shuttle service that the hotels use too...same price as Sarge's ($3/pp each way).  Sailor can return to hotel with you if flying out for A School.  Those moving over to GL for A School will not be able to do this since they move shortly after PIR is over.  You pick them up later on that base (very near to RTC).

ZacsMom95...are you going to the Sarge's Meet & Great Thursday night? He has a lot of information about PIR and he operates shuttle to the graduation hall. Also, "Pertinent PIR Tips" discussion above is a good source of information.

Someone posted this message on another group:

You know you love a Sailor when you make friends with strangers on-line because they are the only ones who can relate...

Temperatures will be in the 30's and 40's in Chicago next week.  This Houston girl will be cold!

Could someone push me in the right direction for things I need for PIR? I'm not someone who travels so I'm very lost.  I have plane tickets, hotel, and a car rented but I see people posting about a shuttle? Is there a link I can go to that will help me with the details and information about what I need to get gate pass etc. before I actually leave? Navy Mom in Tears....please help.....

diannep:  can you private message me about if you know when Div 800 will do BS21? All I've read is "anytime".

Comment by diannep on November 7, 2013 at 9:15am

Thanks, Jessica.

Ladies, I totally forgot about Monday being Veterans Day.  In that case, not sure if they will be having BattleStations on Sunday night this time, like they usually do.  Not sure if I gave out any projected divisions going that night, but if I did...it is possible that your divisions could be making calls tomorrow...rather than Monday.  But they could also move them back a day....sigh....usually it isn't hard to predict when divisions go through, but when a holiday is thrown in, it is hard.

I looked up Veterans Day weekend last year....they went Thurs night (week before PIR), Tues night+Wed night of PIR week.  However, that was back at the time they started BattleStations for a PIR group on Thurs night, not Wed night like they do now.  So my "guess" is that they may do them on Wed night (last night), tonight, maybe Monday night (Veterans Day, I know), and Tues night.

Any help you all can friend request/message me would be appreciated if you have received dates from your SRs.  Thanks!  Keeping a schedule and then I post it in the BattleStations discussion group once they are finished.

Good Morning!

We will see how many divisions call this afternoon.  Could be 4 rather than 2:  possibly 001-004, or just 001/002

If anyone has more dates that you received from your SRs, please friend request/message them to me.

Montana Mom,

If Shelbi is your SR, then you can send her back to RTC on Sarge's shuttle and you don't have to be with her.  He'll just pick her up at your hotel.  If you meet another family whose Sailor needs to get back to RTC at the same time, you can coordinate with them to have Sarge pick up that Sailor too--it will save you both money that way.  Please check out my "PERTINENT PIR TIPS" up above as I talk about this arrangement~~

Comment by Montana Mom on November 7, 2013 at 1:49am
I won't be driving at all Diane but if Shelbi needs a ride back... Do I get Sarge and ride with her? They have to be with someone right?
