For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Remember there are many groups here at Navy for Moms for you to follow your Sailor on this Navy path. All kinds of groups for A school, C school, ratings (jobs), bases, ships, states, regional, twins/multiple, and the Christian Chat group that I am a member of~~

Comment by diannep on November 15, 2013 at 9:24am: mimi: Yes, your sailors get Liberty after PIR. If moving over to GL A School , that will take several hours (shortly after PIR is over) and then you pick them up for Liberty over there. All must return to base at night.

Comment by diannep on November 14, 2013 at 9:43am: Safe travel today, all. Don't forget the MeetandGreet tonight. Have questions for Sarge readt, but he is pretty thorough in covering everything. He should give you this hint about driving to PIR. If you elect to drive rather than take a shuttle (area shuttles booked by hotels or Sarge's--$3/pp each)....you stay to the left on Buckley as you are approaching RTC....line of cars to get onto base will be on your right. PASS RTC! Turn around at the train station which is just past RTC. Head back towards RTC from the opposite direction. Easy left turn into RTC...no waiting!

Shuttles bypass the line of cars too. Some who drive may decide to park off-base at the train station and walk the 3/4 mile to RTC...especially if they plan to take the train into Chicago after PIR...they are right there then. No traffic to deal with.
