N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

By the way, he should have his actual flight info by PIR.  So make sure you ask his exact departure time then.

Comment by diannep on November 3, 2013 at 11:34am

No flights at 2 a.m.  He probably was told he was "leaving" but that means the time he will be bussed to the airport.  The flights can actually leave as early as around 6 a.m. but we have never heard of any leaving at 2 a.m.  So....our suggestion is....after dropping him back off at RTC, head back to your hotel and take a short nap (he should have to be back at RTC by 8 or 9).  Then head to the airport later.  We have been told that you should plan to arrive between 3 and 4 a.m. since it takes a while for them to process the sailors through the airlines area.  Take ID so you can get an airlines gate pass and wait until his plane leaves.

He should be able to have his laptop too, and ipod if he has one, a few civilian clothes (he can't wear at A School until he phases up but will have some for then).  I would take whatever you think he might like with you to PIR....let him choose what he wants you to bring to the airport for him (you have to make the exchange there...nothing can return to RTC with him).

Zoraida:  You should have PIR Day with your sailor until 8 or 9 that night.  He most likely will fly out on Saturday (they are bussed there in the early morning to wait for flights...you meet them there).  Sometimes they do not fly out until Sunday if they cannot get flights on Saturday.  In that case, your sailor will also have Saturday Liberty with you.  He won't know his flights until shortly before PIR.

Good Morning All !

Sniffles:  Yes, odd that they changed him to another division within his group, but sometimes it happens if they need a little more time to work on something.  Shouldn't affect his PIR date.  The fact that he didn't sound very concerned about it in the phone call is a good thing

Angie, There can be several reasons why your SR has changed divisions within the TG although it doesn't happen very often, from what I have been told, and it may not be directly related to your SR at all.

His new address is:

3420 Sailor Drive

Great Lakes, IL 60088-3520
