OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Your welcome daisy!
I know it's a roller coaster ride. Think it's harder on moms. And I agree with u. A school is better.

Thanks edie! I know it's a roller coaster for them as far how they do as a team. The letters are just a little more upbeat when they are doing well as a division.

Just letting you all know I am still around. I have appointment to get my computer fixed. I sure do hope they can fix it :)

Now I have to go get candy for tomorrow night. We live in town but almost never get trick or treaters but I bet if I don't buy candy I will have a whole bunch lol

Yikes Cynthia!! Careful with those winds we had them Sunday night.  Started figuring out what to take yesterday.  Have lots to do make lists for my youngest who is staying home (in high school still) w/family.  Husband keep procrastinating, hes not like me, he will probably wait until Mon night to start packing....

Comment by diannep on October 30, 2013 at 3:13pm

Cynthiajb:  Sounds like S FL!  We are having pretty nice weather, but it is inching back up in heat and humidity!  Sigh....

Comment by Cynthiajb on October 30, 2013 at 1:52pm

Just pulled a large tree branch out of the pool after the storm.  Not too hot right now, but it's Houston so hot and muggy is not far away.

I'm going to start packing on Sunday!
