For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by diannep on October 29, 2013 at 8:45am: goarmybeatnavy: We have never seen RTC not honor the number of guests they have posted on their website. Their Upcoming Grad page tells you how they determine this. The problem lies in how they state it on the page. "less than 12 divisions - 4 guests; 13 or more divisions - 3 guests."

You notice they have not addressed 12 divisions....we have mentioned this to them to correct and for some reason, the wording has not been changed. But it should read: 12 divisions or less---- rather than ----less than 12 divisions=4 guests.

Comment by diannep on October 28, 2013 at 11:31pm: 4 guests, Angie. 13 divisions or more have 3 guests. I still don't understand why some of the RDCs insist on giving the SRs this wrong info in some PIR groups.

Comment by Angie on October 28, 2013 at 10:19pm: Just got done talking with my SR, they are still telling the recruits that they only get 3 guest at the PIR. This is really getting close to when we are suppose to go and the RTC site still says 4 and was updated on the 25th but as noted by another Div the 800 div is not mentioned which makes the count 12. Can anyone help us to find out how many guests can attend?

Comment by diannep on October 28, 2013 at 5:11pm: I think the Dollar rate you were talking about was just a special rate that someone on these groups was able to get. Don't think it was connected to Navy Grad. Maybe it was for a certain time period?

Comment by diannep on October 28, 2013 at 5:10pm: narbo: I have not heard of a PIR rate for the car rentals either....but there IS one for the hotels! However, you must ask for the Navy Grad rate. Not sure they would know what PIR rate is. But car rentals...no, haven't heard they give those attending Navy Grad a discount.
