N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi, my son is in Div 008, Ship 13. He will be going to Pensacola for ABH school. Anyone else?

Comment by CatMom509 on September 25, 2013 at 5:15am

95% of the Sailors fly out on Saturday, a small percentage fly out on Sunday if the airlines don't have enough seats available.  If your budget can handle it, it's suggested you stay until Sunday evening in case your Sailor ends up flying out on Sunday. If not, at least make sure you fly out on Saturday evening.  Some families fly out too early on Saturday and end up missing fun together time with their Sailor at the airport!  They won't find out their travel arrangements until after they've passed Battlestations, the last test of all the skills they have learned during Boot Camp~~

Daniele, Yes, The details for your Bf and my son are exactly the same from start date, Ship, Div to A School and Job. I guess that means they'll get to know each other! I thought everyone flying out to A school left Sat?

lkn:  Here are the hotels most recommended by those on these groups:

Navy Lodge (book in your SR's name; tell them you are there for grad) - l mile from base

These hotels are about 4-5 miles from base, close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR for you and your families:

Spring Hill Suites

Courtyard Inn

Residence Inn

Holiday Inn Express

All of these are in Waukegan/Gurnee area.  Be sure to ask for the Navy Grad rate....call hotels direct.

Check out Southwest Airlines into either Milwaukee (45 min to GL) or Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL)...no change fee and 2 bags check for free.  Someone in an earlier PIR group posted that if you book with Southwest, they send you a rental car code....she used it and rented a car for $12/day for her PIR trip.

AngiesMom:  What is his "job" in the Navy?  That determine his A School.

Welcome to the new members!

My son arrived 9/17 and according to my math and reading on here, he should be in this PIR group. I received the box yesterday, but no form letter yet. I really wasn't expecting it till later this week cause I'm in AZ, but am somewhat anxious.

How do we find out if our SR's A School is in GL or if they have to fly out to it?

I am a mother of 2 sailors and now have a cousin in this PIR group. Does anyone know if there is a Facebook page set up for this PIR date/group?

Does anyone recommend a hotel near the base?  I'm looking up airfare hotel and car rental and I just don't know what to pick.  I guess this is just overwhelming.  This should simple. Right :(
