I am sure that is a very hard thing to deal with Diannep, especially in the beginning. He is such a strong young man with so much to live for. He truly is a hero.
PAmom, the reason BS dates are important is because if you know what night your recruit has Battlestations then you know what day to expect the "I'm a Sailor" call. :)
Glad to hear you and your family are okay Jojo :-)
PAmom-'cos after they complete BS is when you get that amazing "I'm a sailor" call and knowing the date is to know when to stay by your phone!!
The Chicago area got wind gusts and cold but it has settled, no damage - nothing affected accept some power lines down - no worries.
Good Morning all,
Well It's been a crazy couple of days here in New Jersey with Hurricane Sandy. But all is well. No serious damage for us but we have been out of power..finally got it back up last night ...yet no internet...(thank goodness my job opened up today) does anyone know any updates now that the storm is moving up towards the Chicago area?
Ladies, here is a way you can let Brett/family know you are praying for them. If you are planning to donate blood in the near future, ask if you can make a "designated donation," meaning that although the blood won't go to him, they will send a card to Brett in the hospital saying you donated "in honor of Brett Parks." If you would like to do this, please tell them that Brett Parks is at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville FL. I know one of our blood banks down here is doing this. Thanks so much for continued prayers!
For those who don't know who Brett is, he is one of our sailors stationed in Jacksonville FL....his family are close lifelong personal friends of ours, Brett is the one who influenced my son to go into the Navy. He is a personal trainer on the side and had just finished a training session, heard a man cry for help in a parking lot (being attacked by mugger), ran to help, and was shot in the stomach. He almost bled to death from a pierced aorta, lost most of his colon, lost a kidney, and Monday, lost the bottom part of his right leg. His wife is 8 mos pregnant with their daughter, they have a 16 mo old son as well. His mom/wife have been by his side as much as allowed (still in Trauma ICU)---other family members and friends from out of town have come and gone. He is a great guy...was just trying to do what came instinctively to him. What has saved his life so far is his age/physical shape...and lots of prayer! Thanks ladies.
Here is the caringbridge link again....check his "journal" on there to see his progress.
Prayers that "angels" are flooding the NJ/NY area with help and supplies (wonderful, Lala, that you are sending supplies) to help get those people back on their feet. Hoping that they find many of the "missing" alive and well. NY/NJ people are strong and determined...so they may be "knocked down", but they sure aren't "knocked out!" They will get through this...prayers for all of them.
Yes, Lala, I think you are correct. Brett is determined and once he is healthy again, he will do great. It is just a grieving process right now...knowing an amputation is forever. His dad is with him now.
Good Morning Ladies!
That is great news about Brett, I imagine he will not let losing his leg slow him down at all. Continued prayers for him and for all those up north who have lost loved ones, their homes and businesses. We will be gathering up a box full of items to send up there. They are all going to need lots of help.
AMEN, GSDGirl! I agree! Thanks for continued prayers.
They should be finding out BattleStations dates very soon as they probably will start next week with some divisions. Be asking your SRs!
