Good Morning Ladies!
No leave during BC...even during the Holiday stand down. Training goes on for those in Boot Camp. No leave between BC and "A" school. EXCEPT if there is a TG that graduates that weekend before the Stand down. They sometimes can take leave right after. However, they have only accrued 5 days of earned leave. If they want longer they can try and "go in the hole", borrow forward, against future earned leave...but it's often "frowned upon". This paricular leave situation is all explained to that particular TG.
New Sailors normally cannot take leave until after they complete their schooling. There are some exceptions. The Holiday standown that is coming up in December is one. Thanksgiving as well I believe. Sometimes if they have an "A" school and a "C" school then they may be able to take leave in between the two.. It's different for each command. Usually, I am seeing them being granted leave after schooling is complete and before they go out into the fleet...IF it gets granted. They have to put in a chit to take leave. It all depends on the needs of the Navy.
For the Navy, the time that they have after PIR is Liberty.
Here is a BLOG by AntiM that explains the difference between Leave and Liberty. It also talks about how Leave works.
Much better than I can!

Question for veteran moms! When will be there first opportunity to take leave? My hubby is a former Marine and he took 10 days leave immediately graduating from boot camp. Since they are leaving to A-School so soon after graduation, when will be there first opportunity? Thank you!
diannep- ooohhhhh ok ...thank you
paulamom: I don't believe they have visits the night before PIR with the sailors. They never have before. To be certain, you can call the Public Affairs Office and ask this: 847-688-2405
Not sure why I put "there" in the post....duh...should just be "Honor Recruits..."
Jojo: There Honor Recruits are selected before each PIR. RTC will have a list of them on their website shortly before PIR. I believe that the other recruits are the ones who nominate and vote on them? Not positive on that.
Here are the honor recruits/award winners for today's PIR group:
On SARGE's taxi service, he gives you all special rates. His service is rated EXCELLENT by N4Moms who have used him in the past. He provides transportation to/from airport and around the area too. Please feel free to text or call him anytime with questions: 846-212-0246
His MeetandGreet is the one that we N4Moms veterans recommend! Lots of info there.
Ok, those of you who could be in the path of "Sandy"....please be careful. It passed to the east of us here in Miami yesterday/last night. Nasty squally weather all day yesterday and last night...lots of wind and rain. I was on a 5:30 morning 2 mile walk with my dogs yesterday...just a little misty when we started...then the skies opened up and wind/rain was soaking us and blowing like pellets into us. Dripping wet and tired by the time we got home!
So please be safe. Still hope that it gets pushed to the east!
Hi, I just talked to Sarge on here,to respond to the meet and greet on Thursday night,he also has a taxi service.
