Youi're right Bears Nana...the form for Adopt-A-Sailor must be submitted. There is a deadline date.
Congrats on the call!
Talked to my SR in Div 802 yesterday and he knew nothing about a thanksgiving form or adopt a sailor. I told him I and his sister would be there for thanksgiving and to get me that form. Hopefully he is able to ask about it and get it in the mail soon. I am under the impression that without that form he cannot be signed out. right??so exciting to be getting the phonecalls and letters now. Makes a huge difference
I made a Discussion for Thanksgiving Dinner. I'll "bump" it to the top of the Discussion Forum.
Lala....did you post a link to places in/near Great Lakes for Thanksgiving dinner? We got a form and we're headed to GL for Thanksgiving to spend with my SR son!! Sooooo excited!
I will add that I have never heard of anyone getting set back because of having any dental work. You can check and see if you can fly South West. Even if you have to drive a couple hours to fly with them it would be worth it. They don't charge a fee if you have to change your flight. They only make you pay the difference in the tickets. So if you paid $200 and you had to change to a later date and the tickets were $250 then you would only have to pay the extra $50. They also don't charge for your checked bag (maybe even 2) like most airline charge about $50 per bag. So make sure you check prices with all charges when comparing airlines. I will say that I heard on the news that airfare is expect to go up significantly over the holidays and people are advised to buy tickets before the end of this month.
Awwwww....so glad you got to talk to her, TMM. I bet hearing your voice meant the world to her!
Elsie: The only SRs who will not graduate on time will be those who are asmoed (setback) for any reason. Medical, failure of tests, disciplinary, etc. can lead to that. Hard to say how many are affected by this...it varies. They start with about 88 SRs in a division, lose some, gain some more from earlier divisions (who were asmoed and are now training again)....but most of them graduate on time.
I got a phone call!!!! :D It was so good to talk to her. It took a few minutes to be able to understand her because she started crying when I answered the phone. I kept asking her if she was ok and she kept saying yes and I said are you sick and she said no and I said are you crying and she said yeah, I just miss you. She was on watch when everyone else got their calls on Wednesday. Which I guess turned out to be in our favor because we got to talk for over an hour!! This is one happy momma today! :D:D:D
Veteran members (or anyone, really):
I would be interested in the odds of our SR graduating on time. Is there a percentage you can post that I can use to weigh out my options? I hate risk, and I am worried/unhappy about getting nonrefundable airline tix! (Haven't purchased yet....) Was told the penalty for just CHANGING a ticket would be $150 per person. How much higher are the odds (of my SR not graduating on time) if he has to have his wisdom teeth out? Or by being in an 800 div? Or is there absolutely no way to guess, and I just have to DO IT!?
