For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I sent one to my son and got way more info from him than the short little note he included with it. If i hadn't sent it I am sure the short little note would have been all I got :)

we'll see if i get the one I sent this week back

UPDATE on EXTRA GUESTS for PIR

While Extra guests were never a guarantee...RTC had information in place that allowed for the possibility of additional guests entering PIR. Because of this information we have always seen extra guests make it into PIR when there was seating available.

Sadly, yes, this has now changed.

I have made a Forum Discussion for the N 4M's site that shows the old info and the new info. Here is the direct link showing the chanegs:

I needed to hear his voice, i was missing him very badly. It was the first call where i was able to talk to him, the first one was 2 wks after he was there and was just a 15 sec call letting me know he wasn't dead. I was thankful for judt getting to hear his voice. I have received one letter so far. Next week is the hellweek (week4) of bootcamp. I am praying for our Seaman Recruits. He said his div has a lot of guys who work as individuals instead of a team so I am lifting them up in prayer that they will come together and do well together.

LittleMissRed, I wish I knew what to say. I know that is a hard decision. YOu just have to make a list of the good points vs the bad points of each option and figure out which one is best for you. Good luck :-)
