WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Love_My_SR, if he mentioned a name it probably was a last name. That is all they go by up there. Most of them don't even know each other's first names unless they are close friends. It should be fine that you sent stamps envelopes and paper. If it looks bulky they will make them open it in front of them but those are items they are allowed to have so I wouldn't worry about it.

Love my SR, a "Hard Card" is the SR's record that is maintained by the RDCs.  Everything good and bad is recorded such as test scores, inspection scores, completion of important evolutions, and day to day info that the RDC may feel is important.  Too many bad scores and being set back is definitely possible.  Everybody gets entries.

One or two recruits can do something to earn a call or may need to make quick "info" calls. When it is a scheduled call normally all the recruits in the DIV will get calls except those who happen to be on watch or who are SIQ (sick in quarters) usually from having wisdom teeth removed. In that case they may or may not get to make up the call but most RDC's will let them make it up within a few days.

They arrive at boot camp on different days. They fill one division before starting the next with the exception of the 800 and 900 divisions. Once a division is full they begin their processing days, usually 2 to 4 divisions are on the same training day. They can'y all be doing the same exact training at the same time, so a couple of divisions may be at the pool taking that test while two other divisions are running, working out or in a class of some kind. There are just too many for them all to do it at once. So they are staggered. The first divisions to fill up will be the first to do everything, the first to write letters home, the first to take PFA, the first for weapons training, Marlin Spike and even Battle Stations. They have a strict schedule and they stick to it. The first divisions will have a little more down time at the end while the other divisions catch up each day. But that doesn't mean they are not busy, they still practice for PIR and do lots of other stuff. By PIR day they are all finished and caught up with each other. :-)

A question for one of you veterans moms... If a division gets phone calls does everyone in the division usually get one or is it just certain recruits?
Comment by Eryn on October 24, 2012 at 6:42pm

1 sailor 1 marine, I don't really know but maybe they had differing lengths of P-days (processing days) and/or their division took longer to form or something like that. Just my guess.

my son said in his letter he has six weeks left...

Okay, ladies, now I am really confused! I thought all the moms/wives/girlfriends (as well as our couple of gentlemen) on this site have SRs that have a PIR of 30-Nov. If that is the case, how can they all be on different days/weeks of BC?!
