Ahhhh, Queenb: I can assure you that he is following the rules....verbatim....at bootcamp! :-) The consequences of not following them are not pleasant...And, I have a feeling you will see lots of changes when he visits at home! My son has been out of the Navy now since March, and just moved back home in Sept. Even though he was pretty clean and neat about his room, bathroom, etc before he left several years earlier, he is really good about that now. Even wipes down the glass shower doors and closes them when he finishes his shower--something I had always tried to get my sons to do years earlier, but unsuccessfully. Now, I'm sure there are no glass door showers in the Navy, but he must have learned it somehow!. WOW! So...get ready! It is a nice transition!
I'm very sorry LittleMissRed...glad he has you to support him. I know it will be hard for those who cannot go eprsonally for Adopt-A-Sailor...but I will tell you from what I saw lat year...many, many are so generous and provide cell phones for calls.
Little Miss Red,
I had the same problem, but I ended up getting my boyfriend's dad to go with me. I'm not sure if his dad already filled out the form or whatever so I don't know if we could sign out your SR. But if I were you I would just ask around and see if anyone would want to sign him out as their one guest and spend the day with you two. That is what I was going to try to do. Kind of sucks not being able to make your own plans, but better than nothing.
So my son's girlfriend and I decided to be brave last night and go up to his room. We got it all cleaned up and ready for his first visit home. I am thinking I should have done it sooner. I found some gross stuff, ie food and drink left upstairs. There shouldn't have been any, as the house rules are no food and drink upstairs. I certainly hope he follows the rules at boot camp better than he followed the rules at home. Lol
S
Feel better, Betsy!
I am so sorry LittleMissRed, maybe he can be the guest of another Sailor who has family picking them up. Then you could join them for dinner :-)
I hope you feel better soon Betsy <3
You know you are a Navy or Military Mom when Rachel Ray makes you cry. She is surprising a Mom and Dad there for a makeover by secretly bringing in their Coast Guard son whom they haven't seen in 6 months. Bring on the tissues!!!!
