WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Jackflash unless things have changed in the last 10one years...Marine recruits are not allowed off base of MORD until they graduate. My hubby was a DI there and the recruits weren't allowed off unti Graduation day.
You might try calling the MET (we morale, welfare, and Recreation offices to see if they have any thing going on.
Camp Pendleton did have a program for Marines. But its been a while now since I've been on base there.

I'd love to reciprocate--- since I can't get to Chicago, maybe I could adopt a sailor here in San Diego  (I've noticed a few of them wandering around).

Does anyone know who to get in touch with regarding a similar program in San Diego?  Maybe I'll have to adopt a Marine, since their Boot Camp is here.

JackFlash, yes, there is a very good chance that all of your SR's will be adopted.  They are treated extremely well by the people in the area.  They really do so much for the SR's and truly show how much they appreciate them.  They will take very good care of your SRs.  There is a good chance that some of them may even be able to call home that day.  A lot of the people in the area allow the SR's to borrow their cell phones to call home.   When my son was in BC, I got a 45 minute phone call.  Boy, was I happy mom.  He was adopted by the Country Club and I bet his dinner was probably even better than mine was.  :)

Hi everyone! I cant wait till 11/30! Counting down the days. I live 15 hours away and i am so sad that i wont be able to make a trip up for thanksgiving. Hearing that he can get phone calls home that day is prolly the only reason I'm not giving in and coming up anyways. He is ship 04 div 021. I've gotten one letter from him already, waiting until thursday to see if i get another one. I"m really just looking for people in the same boat (no pun intended) as me. This is all so new.

That's great Diz Liz....

Does this mean all our boys will get adopted for Thanksgiving Day?  I hope folks know how much these boys can eat!!!

I'm excited for everyone receiving letters.  Hoping I'm one of them this afternoon!

Good One, Craig!  We should at least give our dr's name to TSA so that the "results" get to the proper place!  :-)
