Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I'm just hoping to have him all to myself for a day since I will have to share him graduation weekend ;) But seeing him is better than not either way.

I do know that whoever signs him out is who he will have to remain with though...so maybe then you could join them.

Comment by Eryn on October 22, 2012 at 10:07pm: I live about 6 hrs away so I think I'm going to make the trip. It will be rough since I'm only 19 so I can't get a hotel room and will have to drive 6 hrs, spend the day with him, and drive 6 hrs home. But it will be so worth it!!!!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on October 22, 2012 at 10:06pm: What would be great is to take a nice long vacation for the holiday and have Thanksgiving dinner with your recruit and then do some black Friday shopping in the Windy City and then see all the museums and tourist traps during the next few days and then PIR on Wednesday. Now that would be awesome!!! Of course you might better win the lottery this week to fund it lol.

That is such a comfort knowing they will be able to enjoy Thanksgiving and have a little fun. This just made my day a little brighter! Still waiting on a letter though.
