OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Michelle. I received the form letter early this week and then got a letter from my husband yesterday. I live in Alabama and its taking his letters 4 days to get to me from Great Lakes. In my letter though he said he was disappointed that he didn't get any letters last week and that we should have already had his address. I got his address from the recruiter before is form letter came.

Good Morning All!  Please continue prayers for Brett.  He is resting well...no more surgeries planned at this time.  Still sedated...please pray that he will wake up soon and flash that million dollar smile to his family/friends.  Broke my heart last night when his mom told me that she is "so scared."  Not like her, but totally totally understandable in these awful circumstances.  Here is a pik of Brett and his young son:

Bugs - Wow! That is exactly like our family.

You want to hear something really funny.  I had my 25 wedding aniversary in June.  My wife and I wanted something cool.  We've been everywhere around the world since I was stationed both in Europe and Asia.  Since I was a Cryptologist, we were never allowed to go to communist countries.  So we decided to go to the Prague Czech Republic because as a civilian I can.  I started l looking at the map, and we had to take a side trip to Auschwitz.  Can you imagine what people thought when I tell them that was part of our 25th vacation.  It was totally awesome.  That's what happens when you're a WW2 history nut....

I love Navy trivia, I will make a section above to keep from flooding this section.  I would love to hear some of your trivia.  I run a deppers website and have to keep these guys interested in the Navy, and trivia is one of the ways I do it....

I'll see you (and the others that love trivia) in the discussion area above....

You're welcome Craig! My family are WWII buffs and enjoy restoring our '42 Willey's F scripted GPW with a mounted 50 Cal.pick up a lot of trivia at re-enactments and events. Don't kick my butt but I do on occasions wear an army nurse or doughnut dolly outfit...for parades or performances! Not prior service.
Sorry!!!

Bugs - I never knew that.  I love interesting trivia like that!  Thanks for sharing....

Craig thank you for that insightful list of dos n dont's!!!
As a wife/mom and service volunteer I always see opportunities to teach and inform others if our military heritage customs and traditions...always!!!
So just for GP, the " your mama wears combat boots" can be traced back to WWII and poor women who followed the troops trading services for a good pair of Gov't issue combat boots. Services ranging from cooking, washing and mending uniforms to more intimate services as well thus the term is an insult and implies your mama is a "working girl".

Lala - I've known you way too long, so I won't be kicking your butt even if you don't pass it on, but I will nag you to bits.

Awesome craig, I love that and i will share it with others :-)

Michelle, not necessarily. My form letter took longer than normal to arrive, I actually had a real letter the next day so it is so hard to guess when you will get one. your only hope is stalking the mailman :-) And of course I have my fingers crossed for you!!!! I hope you get one very soon!

Comment by Michelle on October 20, 2012 at 11:45pm

Hey, I noticed that some of you ladies are already starting to receive their actual letters from their SRs, I just received my form letter yesterday so does that mean that my letter will take just as long to get to me too?
