For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 11/20/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

027/028 are Brother Divisions and train together.

I have to read back, but they may be Integrated. If so, then the males from both would house together so as to fill up a compartment. The females, the same.

(the laziness of email age) I just printed address lables to make it all go faster. I'm sure some of you have already figured this out- but I thought I'd share

Comment by diannep on October 15, 2012 at 7:03pm: It does get easier, cmurph, but not for a while. Once in A School, contact is restored again which makes a huge difference! So hang in there!

Comment by diannep on October 15, 2012 at 7:02pm: Kristin: We recommend that all stay through Sunday if you can. Because...there is always a chance of flying out on Sunday....plans can change...so...if you can leave later on Sunday, that would be good in case your sailor doesn't fly out until Sunday (usually it is Saturday, but sometimes Sunday).

For those with GL A School sailors, stay until Sunday night or Monday morning as you will have daytime liberty through the weekend with those sailors.

Kristin Terry - We decided to make our reservations until Sunday morning, since it is uncertain when any of them will leave. From what I gather it could be anytime Friday afternoon to Saturday night. If he flies out early, we will just check out, if not at least we know we have a room.
