I read somewhere that yes the ships have names, but that you don't need to use the name AND the ship number, but you can if you want.

Question: The return address on Eric's envelope says Ship 07 - USS Chicago. The ships have names? This information may have been posted, but I guess I missed it. If anyone knows about the ship's name, I would like to know. ..... Thanks .... Josie

Logan's mom - You are very right. Thank you for the reminder.

Logan's Mom - I was right there with you last week. There was talk of trouble makers but we all know there will be some in each division. I felt much better when I got my first letter from my son and found out how well he was doing and then was even more convinced that he was just fine, when I talked to him today. I don't mind hearing some of the "bad stuff" because I want to know what he is going through but on the other hand, we don't want to make insinuations. (did I spell that correctly?) Be sure and go to your division discussion (up above-click view all if you don't see it) and join our 363 discussions. We have more details there but we also support each other. Add us as your "friends" and then we can email and swap last names.

I find it comical that each SR thinks it's a different week/day than the other. I guess we'll never really know what day it is, just that PIR is on 11/5!

One VERY happy mom here tonight... my son finally called me while I was at work today (I keep my cell on my desk, just in case!) and we got to talk for about 15 minutes or so. I was SO glad to hear from the boy :) :) He's doing well, not having much fun, but sees the light at the end of the tunnel. He mentioned that he and some buddies are are counting down the days and of course everyone is really looking forward to graduation. I managed to keep it together until we hung up... then I lost it. Thankfully there weren't any customers in the building at the time. My mom is my office manager though so she knows what all we're going through and was there to help me through the rest of the afternoon. He asked me to send some family photos and a photo of him and his girlfriend so I need to dig some out and get them in the mail asap.

I hope everyone had a great day.

I have four of my. Cadets in boot at the moment and I send each a letter with upbeat news and funny Broadsides Navy cartoon and sports every day. I've had over twenty go thru boot and no problems yet.

Good evening!

We got our first letter dated Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Eric sounds good! No complaining. He says Thursday they are being fitted for their dress whites and service uniforms. He says the activity never stops! __ "We are constantly exercising, studying, cleaning, or getting ready for insanely thorough inspection on our racks." __ He says he really likes BC???

Thanks .... Josie
