dianne....we have that mail person thing all worked out in here...one of our poor parents is a mail person...lol!!

You all be NICE to your mail person! Don't want to hurt him or her! The eagerness with which a boot camp mom grabs recruit's letters from them can be quite scary! So be KIND! Maybe a plate of warm cookies will encourage him/her to deliver your recruit's letters to you before making any other deliveries????

Hi everyone, I feel a little lonely now, my sailor has left for c-school and I miss her already. But I am very proud of the young woman she has become and I can't wait to hear about this new part of her journey. I took her to the Pisgah National Forest yesterday and took some great pics. I thought I would share one with you all. Hopefully I will be seeing her again very soon. If she can get leave I am going to go to her fiancee's PIR with her. He is in boot camp now.

Alice and Mitch- do you guys live in Belmont? If so that is so cool. A very pretty town. My brother and his family live there as well. And my oldest son lives in Charlotte.

I am off now to go shopping for the PIR ribbon supplies. I don't understand why I can order silver letters online but can only get the gold ones in the stores... hummmmm. I hope everyone has a great day.

I just want to remind you thsat have young children to not forget to make your paper chains. I know your kids are probably getting antsy to see mom or dad or big brother or sister, aunt or uncle. Remember the paper chains you make at Christmas, well simply make one of those equal to the number of days until PIR and then take one chain link off each day...then they have a visual about how long until they see that special person. For those of you who do not have children yet...make a note...this is a great thing to do with kids with a sailor goes on deployment. They watch those days tick by.

Here is an interesting tidbit...I started out this group all so long ago with the ship numbers and division numbers for forum groups...some of you may remember that..then realized some ship 7s were actually 11s and had a huge panic until Jessica, God Bless her, saved the day and said don't worry about the ship, the division is what is important...so for our purposes we won't worry about the ship, now in terms of addresses and PIR I don't know...so I am on the hunt to find that out!!
