Robin it worked fine for me!! Double click on the questionaires.doc and then it will open in your word processing program. The same is true of the four I put up which are just farther down!!

What is the best hotel to stay in, I have not made reservations yet and want to get that done. I think some said Red Carpet Inn and some said Residence Inn and where is everyone from 357 staying? What is the closest? would love some advice.

ok.. so fyi.. hope you guys never need to know this, but ship 4 is the old ship 6 for the injured and sick recruits.. they're in the moving stage or something..idk.. but if a recruit goes to ship 5 that is where they hold them until they get seperated.. ahh.. so confusing! but i thought id pass it along just in case you ever need to know! chin up girls.. wed will be here before we know it! no news is good news! So be thankful your sailors are too busy being active and healthy.. thats why they haven't called! :)

I just want to remind you about something I am sure you all know! It seems there is a familiar theme in many of the letters that they are tired, overwhelmed, being yelled at, others aren't doing what they need to do so therfore they are in trouble.

It would be very easy to commiserate with them and tell them those other recruits better get it together and I'm sorry you are going through that. What they really need is encouragement and pumping up. Maybe some of your recruits participated in competitive things in high school or college. Think of this as facing the toughest team of the year, whether it be a performance choir, speech team, football, baseball, whatever. Pump them up, tell them no matter how tough it gets they are tougher. I am adding a new discussion forum that I am stealing of course from Jessica...lol..that has words of encouragement. There are great phrases in here that you can use.

Also don't forget the questionaires. The ones I wrote are live onboard the ship, food, general information, and OMG the recruiter didn't tell me this, and Jessica also has a vareity of them. Hers and mine have many similarites I am just so OCD that I had to group mine into categories...lol! I am going to be putting up new ones for week 3 and 4 this week! They are very simple to complete and yet will give lots of info.

Okay troops let's get back to that letter writing and if you have accepted the challenge to send a generic letter this week please only send one a day inside the letter you are sending to your recruit. Wives, hubby's g/f's and b/f's please be careful...I don't want to hear I damaged anyone's relationship, you might want to leave this one to the mamas!! LOL

No calls yet from my son, but it will be a really nice surprise to get one. It sounds like all divisions are different and not all RDCs the same. Everything is all booked, hotel, air and car. The Navy Lodge seemed very reasonable and close and Southwest had the best direct rates into Milwaukee. My husband said that it wasn't that much further for us to drive. Plans are starting to get into place, now the countdown continues to PIR. Thanks for all the great information you guys are putting up. It has really been helpful keeping us in the loop. :)

To a great extent they are filled numericaly...and then as you get closer to filling up divisions then they decide some will be a push division...which means they move through much quicker...some divisions stay in processing longer waiting for other divisions to fill up or their own...it is a crazy making process. I think that phone calls are at the RDCs determination...in fact I think it is all at their determination and probably means that their division was being rewarded for something. Some RDCs are just kinder than others. I keep telling folks in 357 that my son said the RDC was clear on the bus no calls for six weeks, now I truly hope and pray he has softened his heart, however everything else has happened along the timeline my son told me to expect so I am not holding out much hope.

Here is the thing folks...we have less than forty days...we are no five weeks and four days and eight hours from the happiest moments in a long time. WE CAN DO THIS!! Our recruits are surviving under difficult conditions and some are only allowed the privelege of speaking to each other on Saturdays and Sundays. So, you know as I write this I feel sad and I tear up, because I miss my son desperately, we were a team, he is my only child and we have no other family, but if he can do this so can I. I have every one of you to brighten my day, to lighten my load, and to make the time go faster. Wednesday seems to be my letter day and It is almost here. I believe that the reason some of you did not get letters was simply because they were barely out of processing and htis week will be different.

Hang in there. It's all good and remember what seasoned mom would tell us, even though it's hard...no news is good news.

af2Navy - regarding Southwest airlines. they fly into Milwaukee too, which is only about 20 miles further and a lot smaller and easier to get in and out of. We are flying into there on Southwest. When I made my hotel res. the manager at the hotel said that was a very wise and excellent choice. Only about an hour drive. Just FYI.
