Robin...I know what the recruiter told you...but I was told my many recruits that they are directed to the pay phones, the lines are incredibly long, they are incredibly stressed and sometimes just can't stand the thought of standing in that line while being screamed at, think they'll go back "in a few mnutes" and then forget.

@Gabby - my son will be going to A school in GL as a Hospital Corpsman - Dental Assistant. What about your daughter?
Yes ! I heard the same thing about musical cards! I tell everyone to keep the outside of the envelope very plain. I even told my mom to have my stepdad address the envelope since she has such beautiful handwriting. HA! Don't want to draw attention to anything!!!

Laura, I'm sending letters, not postcards. I suggested postcards to others because it's just easier and I doubt any of them would be writing anything private. I'll let them know not to put anything private on them just in case. Thanks! Karla

I don't have time to follow the forum much either but I wanted to check in and see what was going on :) No letter yet from my son, but that seems to be the norm as of yet so I'm not worried. Of course I'd love to hear from him, but as long as I know he's safe it's all good. I find myself using just about the same coping mechanisms as when his dad was active duty... staying as busy as possible (with my schedule right now that's not too difficult). It's still hard to end my letters to him, but it is getting better.

Karla, not sure i would send postcards. Just remember you might want to keep your conversations private between yourself and your recruit
