OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

@2ndmom, regarding them being able to send out 2 letters at a time, not sure that's true. my son sent at least three one to us, to his grandparents and at least one of his aunts.

You all are like a dream group of people...thank you for putting others needs first too...something simple like finding a card with a few words of encouragement and printing out NFL scores or MLB standings or TMZ gossip maybe, sharing something about your family and wishing them well and encouraging them to write back might make the difference between them giving up and keeping on keeping on. This will just be your first opportunity to do this...as your sailors go forth on deployments you will find out that ships do this at holidays and care packages are sent...so consider this being part of our boot camp...lol! Thank you all for being so willing to give of yourself!!

Karla if you are reading this don't freak out...I deleted your post becaue you put your recruits first and last name and i didn't want you to have identifying info. when your recruit is in special ops...so i am not picking on you or trying to be ugly...am trying to reach you by private chat

That is sad that many dont get any mail. but when we met our son at the MEPS, their were many their who's parents didnt come, one boy told me he told his parents it is no big deal. I am afraid they have no idea how boot camp will be.
