Send a prepaid phone card in a letter ASAP, they can buy them at the nex but have few minutes...do a favor for your recruit...first..use it first so it is ready for them to use...second...on a small piece of paper, write down step by step instructions on how to use the card so they don't have to think when they call..because they will be so excited.. I sent 1000 minute card with my son...now I'm thinking...why did I do that...I'll lucky to talk to him for five minutes total at this point...lol...but I know him he will share...lol

1. Dial this number
2. When you hear the beep, pres this number
3. When you hear the nex beep, dial our number area code first (write the number in case they have forgotten or are stressed)
4. You will hear this...then do this.

Make it very specific.

USN Mom ..I mailed my son a phone card..but I think they can purchase one also. Don't know if they can call collect?

so do I understand correctly that we have to send them a phone card before they can call home? We were never told that. My son doesn't have one - can I mail him one now - seems like they are strict on what they receive in the mail. Will they allow him to rec' the phone card?
Very Confused!

i got a letter from my boyfriend yesterday. it was a pretty long one. he says he's doing good. was a little homesoick at first but he's doing better. talked about how he just wanted to come home & be with me & never leave my side again, but i told him not to worry about me & to coninue on with his goals in life. this site seems to be a MAJOR support for me, which is what i needed.

I received my first real letter today. She was doing good. Having trouble not smiling or laughing when she was getting yelled at (she is strange like that). Blisters on her feet from the marching, but has already passed her swim qualification. So good to hear from her.

mimi my son's recruiter told me that phone call would be a lengthy one. Maybe a good half an hour.
