@Iowanavygf, did your recruit have his bank account info with him when he went? He needed the routing and checking numbers with him to be able to deposit his pay into. My son had his Navy Federal info with him, we haven't received any other bank information.

Oh my gosh, I didn't realize the RTC's read what was on here!! In the mail today I got a letter from the Armed Forces Bank.. we have our own account here, apparently we will have our account thru there now.. I had no idea it existed, this was never something the recruiter discussed.. is this something everyone does or whats the deal?

2ndmomtohim-- more than likely this coming week they should get our letters, and it will be either tomorrow or next Sunday they can begin to write back

I don't know if knowing some of that interests you, but it helps me understand what my son is going through and gives me something to write to him about.

Okay y'all I am having some insomnia problems so when I got the book Honor Courage and Commitment yesterday i started reading. It is a great book. It follows a class of recruits at boot camp. It basically describes what they did day to day. So, now I think I am going to write a questionaire for my son to fill out about each of his weeks! For example, I think they are somewhere in there second week. Remember processing days don't count. That means this week they have their first real inspection. It takes a long time and they have to stand at attention, let the inspection team rifle through their stuff and answer questions about navy history, general orders, insignia, etc. By this time they have also taken their initial PT test, just as a starting point and taken their qualifying swim test to see if they need swimming lessons or what. They had to jump off a 10 foot platform, swim 50 feet, and tread water for 5 minutes.

That's what I was thinking, mine was sooooo emotional when he left, completely uncharacter of him. maybe waiting till I get an actual letter would be best. Ease my nerves a bit! :) Hopefully that will come soon for all of us!!

iowanavygf--I was going to be doing with the next week or so...personal preference, some like to wait a little longer to make sure their recruits are recycled back but I have no doubts...again, completely personal preference

Good morning ladies!! How soon should we start booking hotel rooms after we get the PIR letter?
