shinertxgal, that seems to be a very xtra special christmas, brought tears to my eyes, Thats awesome Congrad on your future daughter n law. Happy Holidays My son leaves tomorrow headed to COLD Va. You know us Texans not use to cold temps with snow. Lol
Well it has been really busy here since we picked my son up from the airport on the 22nd. So glad to have him home.
His girlfriend thought he was coming home on the 23rd, we have been keeping this secret from her for almost two months. Imaging her surprise on the 22nd when he showed up at her dad's birthday party, only to find out at that time that the party was actually a surprise welcome home party for my son. It was awesome seeing her reaction.
Well, that was just the tip of the iceberg. You see, we had been planning something even better! Many phone calls between Pensacola and home between myself and my son have taken place over the last month and a half. His first call being to tell me he was going to propose to her during Christmas. Then he wanted to use one of our local jewelers to have the ring custom made. I got to go and be his eyes for him along with his girlfriends mom. You should have seen us both (moms) as we went to see the ring when the jeweler called to tell me it was ready for us to look at and take pictures to send to my son. We were both shaking and couldn't keep the ring still at all lol. We were so excited. So, we decided to tell his girlfriend that they were having a small party for her dad's birthday on the 22nd. However, in the meantime, we had contacted my son and his girlfriend's closest friends and their grandparents and let them know that it was a welcome home party my son and what time to start showing up.
My son wanted to have a cake made with proposal on it and to tell his girlfriend it was her dad's cake and to help him with it. She goes to help him open the cake box and as she does she just stops......raises her head ever so slowly, spins around, sees my son down on one knee with the ring, then immediately turns back around dropping her head in her hands and begins to cry.
She is then told by her friend to turn around and then she says "Oh my God.....Yes"!! It was so awesome. The cake was decorated with a picture of my son and her taken at Great Lakes during his graduation with a bouquet of flowers and two rings joining and the words "Will you marry me?".....It was priceless. Both of our families are very family oriented and he knew she would love having her friends and family present. We are all so blessed that my son wanted to share this intimate moment with us.
My daughter video taped it and posted that night on facebook. Everyone who has seen said it was awesome.
So, our Christmas was extra special this year. Happy Holiday's to you all!!
Pam-
OMG! It is so hard to see them go, right? My daughter's room is so quiet. No music playing. No Sunshine to greet me each morning...I keep thinking...what am I supposed to do?
It is such a joy to look into their tiny faces for the first time; and such misery to see them walk out the door as adults. Someone should write a book for new mothers about that!
Our sailor is enroute to Washington as I type...his time at home went so fast and my husband and I were basket cases at the airport today. This was very, very hard. We so looked forward to him being home for 13 days, but never thought it would be so devastating to put him on that plane this morning. I am now even trying not to cry while I am writing this....I am such a baby! lol
@MyHrtBlongs~call the Nex photographer. Did your sailor give you the receipt? If not, I am sure that they will still check into it for you.
