Thank you Lynn, That really makes me feel better. I have been so worried about him having pneumonia. I think that PFA was Thursday I haven't heard from him so I hope that means he passed. Do they call home the same day they fail something?
Ladies, I'm going with the thinking that they are doing 4 divisions on Monday, 2 on Tuesday night and then the 2 performance divisions on Wednesday. They are just my thoughts though. I guess time will tell. I would hope that they will keep the fun day for participation for all divisions.
Salma, my son says his chief said that he may get to go if he works hard. I am going to think positive that it will happen. Otherwise I do not get to see him until next year January when he graduates on the 14th of January. When he first got to GL it took a while before he was in his division and I thought he may have graduated in December right after his sister. He got there 11/04 his sister 10/26. I thought he would have gotten in the 12/22 graduation. I was too happy there was going to be space between the graduations as I would not have been able to afford one after the other. It is a tough one. I wish you all the best on that as well Salma.
Okay Vickie...this one I have experienced...my son got pneumonia the second to the last week of boot camp...unbeknownst to me...he had to be hospitalized...given IVs...the whole nine yards. getting the fluids and the IV antibiotics really helped him and he popped right back. This is something they deal with all the time at boot camp and they are good at it. My son did miss a day of fire fighting and had to go through bs with another division but he PIR'd right on time...jessica will laugh when she reads this probably because I am giving you the short version without all the angst and worry thrown in so i am confessing to it now...lol.
Just trust that if he wrote you about it...he is probably fine now...my son's illness was so close to graduation that there was no time to write about it....if he was in danger of not graduating or in danger of not passing that final PFA you would get a phone call...remember the no news is good news policy...this is one of those times it helps you breathe easier...lol
Boy I have to agree with Lala...I have never heard of battle stations being on a Friday because of Captains Cup...this competition means a lot to the divisions..just in terms of bragging rights and bs really tires them out...just due to the lack of sleep....captains cup lasts until about 5PM...so don't look for any calls then until after that.
Do you have your blue candles ready. As Navy moms we light these to honor our recruits going through battlestations as a way to keep our hearts and minds focused on them and our prayers burning through the night. i will say that sometimes recruits give their parents the day the capping ceremony takes place as the battlestation date which would be today....so and that would make sense that bs would have been last night...so I would keep those phones handy this afternoon starting around 2PM...just saying....lol
It is not unusual to have one less week in boot camp. In our PIR group...some got there Sept 2nd like my son all the way to Sept 15th...so that was quite a time span..that is why some are called push divisions...that is also why I always tell folks that the summary of boot camp is general and shouldnt be taken verbatim.
I can't be absolutely sure, you never can with the navy because things can and do sometimes change. But I have never heard of them having battle stations on a Friday night. The captains cup is on Saturday and that is a fun filled day that they all enjoy and look forward to. Sometimes a group will go on Thursday night the week before PIR because it give those who have PIR that week a chance to go through it again if they failed. Since there was no PIR today I don't know if any groups had BS last night. Try not to worry, I know it is hard but from what I have heard it is not as bad as we "Moms" think it is. The calls don't usually start coming in until 2pm Central time so depending on where you live you can figure out about what time to expect the calls. We are on the East coast and ours came at about 6 pm.
Wendi, was your BS day for 900's an approximate or absolute? I got a FB message that said it was Wednesday. Just hoping to confirm with you!
Vickie, I was thinking the same thing about Captain's Cup. With them having one less week than most groups of recruits, it's so hard to try and predict what their time frame is now. :(
