This is the final test for your recruits. When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

Good night everyone!! I need sleep bad and I still have to drive home from work.
Mail vibes and Phone shuffles coming everyones way!!!!!
Thanks for the birthday wishes guys!!!!!!! Wasn't a very good birthday but that is okay. I need to stop feeling sorry for myself and be happy for what I have gotten because others haven't even gotten letters from their SR. Whew, that actually felt kinda good.
Hmmmmm. If they can write now on Tuesdays and Thursdays maybe I will have mail tomorrow! Which means who is next in line after me?
happy birthday himmi!!!! i am so sorry that you did not get the gift that you wished for! but your son is doing exactly what he feels strongly about and is honorable for that, and I know that he is thinking of you tonight!
Yes today was a hard pill to swallow, but I am glad that my SR is doing well, and so cool to hear that some of our boys know each other!
Arwen- My SR is AROC of div 067. She told me in a letter that she didn't take the advice of some to "keep your mouth shut, and don't volunteer for anything". She said she spoke, when spoken too. and She knew all of the things she needed to know when she was asked.
She is not shy, and not a trouble maker, just a girl who has always set goals for herself and has so far set them within reach. I told her today that she has exceeded our expectations! We are very happy and proud for her!
There doesn't seem to any particular reason for any given event from what my SR has experienced. She did say, "No Regrets!" Which means she has made the right choices so far.
Thank you Arwen for all of the insight you give us N4Ms everyday.
Hope all who are waiting on that wonderful phone call, receive it soon!
RDCs do pick the leaders, but no one I have met has ever figured out what, if any, criteria they use.
Some seem to pick someone who seems like a leader, to test the recruit's perceived skill, others pick a shy recruit to bring him/her out of his/her shell. Some seem to choose a budding troublemaker (it's hard to cause trouble when you're nominally in charge, and it can turn some of them around), and others choose randomly.
My son was selected as Mail Petty Officer, we suspect because of his height. He's 6'5" and could see over the crowd to hand out the mail, LOL.
