This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

diannep.....Well said.  There is a reason for everything they are taught.  What seems mean now is valuable later.

My son got a phone call today but it went to the girlfriend :(.  I can't believe how devastated I am by this.  She did say he sounds good.  This time he got 13 minutes!

The RDC's want them to know the importance of LOCKING their locker...because in A School...when they finally can have some of their "stuff," if they don't lock their lockers consistently, they will no longer have their "stuff" because someone will relieve them of it.  Theft is a big issue so they need to learn to protect what is theirs.

He also wrote his grandma and we were able to compare letters.  He wrote different things to her, less personal.  He did mention that his division is now able to write on Tuesdays and Thursdays so the letters will be more frequent.

I feel so bad that these SR are all so tired.  I hope once weapons start that they are getting more and better sleep.  Not too good giving a SR a gun when they are tired.

Himmie...funny stories,  thanks for making me chuckle.  He's right about sense of humor.  In my daughter's first letter, she said her RDC is funny at times, but she has to "laugh in her head" so she doesnt get in trouble!  God Love them!

himmie- I got a good chuckle from the closing his eyes and marching comment! How funny. (probably not so funny to him though!)

ame...Lexsmom is also in Illinois so that is why she is next in line for a letter (hahaha).  Yes, my son has a awesome sense of humor, he gets it from me.  He said if you don't have some sort of humor you wont make it through the real tough times.

Phone calls for his division:  They are taking a big test today if not already.  My SR said they may get phone calls 1/5 (yeah!!! the best bday gift ever) if they do well on the test.  Otherwise 1/6 and 1/7.  Keep a look out for that 847 area code on your phones.

Another funny but no so funny is he said they were marching outside on Saturday and he was so tired that he thought he closed his eyes for a few seconds only to open them up and he was somewhere else!  He was thankful that they march close together otherwise who knows where he would of ended up.
