This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

Oh wow :( I got mime Dec.30 and he left Dec.14th. The navy though can be slow, my husband signed up in the navy in April and he just left in Dec.

Frazcom21, I hear ya. My job is barely holding up as well, plus my hours just got cut so it's hard. I'd love to be able to get a plane ticket for graduation but I will not be able to afford that plus a car plus a room so we're all driving. It's only 12 hours and can divide it between 3 of us.

I was a little confused too, I was told not to expect housing allowance until 4 months in. But the pay we got in the bank account was a lot more than expected...

Thanks! That helps a bit... I wish I could see a pay stub.... oh well.

This is off topic and I know we probably should not discuss pay but I wont talk about any certain amounts... although its probably almost the same for everyone but did any wives get paid the 1st? We did and I think we got overpaid.... my husband got to GL on the 14th... are we suppose to get 1/2 the BAH for Dec? I am not going to touch it incase there was a mistake and they take it back...but I am so confused!

frazcom - I <3 lonestar! (actually i love all country music)

himmiemom - I think the recruiter do tend to glamorize it a little, I know when I was going to go in the navy in 03 they did.... I am glad I didnt go I dont think I could have hacked it! I
am such a cry baby... lol I dont deal well under stress and screaming...
but you are right they signed up for it... they should just buck up and
work together the time will go much faster that way!!!

himmie- my bad, I think I wrote that in the middle of the night....so who knows what I was thinking....hairbands of the 80s...yes, Although while watching Jaws late last night I did find the line...."Your gonna need a bigger boat!" hilarious...so I was probably delirious at the time..=)

My question is why would someone want to sign up for the Navy, go to bc and than not listen or cooperate?  Doesn't make any sense to me.  They chose to go on their own and no one forced them to go.  Only thing I can think is if their recruiter mislead them into thinking it was more glamarous.
