This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

mapakids, he got the collar device because he was selected as a recruit petty officer.

Some recruits are given responsibility within their divisions. One is designated the "recruit chief petty officer" or RCPO, who is in charge when the RDCs are not present (which happens more when they become senior recruits). The RCPO also leads the recruits when they march. They get to wear a chief's insignia.

There are also port and starboard petty officers and the recruit master at arms (first class petty officers) and section leaders (second class petty officers). Mail, laundry and other task-related recruit petty officers get third class petty officer devices.

Any who are given these responsibilities who still have them at PIR earn a promotion (unless they are already E-3s). It is very common for recruit leaders to be demoted for infractions or mistakes, and others given a chance to fill the role.

Lexsmom,  with your song, Mikki's head scarf and my letter dance, our SR's will want to stay as far away from us as possible.  Just kidding ladies....having a little humor goes a long way for all of us..

Thanks for being here...

There are three RDCs per division, usually a chief and two senior petty officers.

@ROBIN - the scarf looks nice - it goes well with your laptop =)

mamaw, I think the name tags are a good idea also. I know we'll have our scarves, but it'll be good to know all the people we've been reading about, crying with and venting to. You're set up for the M&G at Ramada right?

Hope everyone had a great New Year! I love all the scarf pictures but I'm not a creative and crafty person. Definitely ordering off of Ebay! LMAO. I'm going to get the yellow scarf and pink for my husbands division and intertwine them. I'm also going to order ribbons for myself and the family from lalalaribbonqueen and my ribbon is going to attach to the scarf to hold them together.

Hi everyone! I hope everyone had a great New Years eve & day. I've been reading all the posts everyday, but haven't posted anything myself because I'm kinda getting worried (I know, no news is good news) but I haven't gotten a letter since Christmas eve. I haven't received not one phone call. What about anyone else from ship 09 div 068??? I really want to know what's going on with them.
