This is the final test for your recruits. When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During…Continue

battlebuddy....hang in there,,,he is homesick. Remmeber this is a big adjustment to them. You know the NAVY is not for everyone to make a career out of it so try to remember this is only such a small part in his life and he is not bound forever to it. He may end up liking it once he gets out of BC and if not this was and is a good stepping stone to the adult world of learning discipline. :) It is hard to not be able to be there when they need us but keep sending those letters and it will make his time much more memorable for the good things!
Hope everyone had a safe New Years Eve. This is the start to a long year but joyful as we can see our SR's THIS year AND we hit 40 days!!!!
I will be homeo tomorrow and back to my normal routine of N4M's all day! LOL well at least half of it. hahahahahaha
and I get all my mail on Monday so lets see if I have some letters!
battlebuddy...After reading you post on your sons letter the tears started to roll. My son was also homesick and it is hard to absorb that when they tell us that because we as moms can't help them right now. They need to find a way to get through it on their own. And when they do they will be come much stronger and they will than be able to handle other stressful situations better.
My son passed all the color eye tests at MEPs. He was given Advanced Electronics and was so excited. When he got to GL they tested him again and found he was color blind also. He had his job pulled from him and he was upset but delt with it. He said he has other "cool" jobs to choose from and needs to make his decision within the next few weeks.
For those that have not gotten letters yet, hold on. Monday starts a new mail week and at least we have 6 mail days instead of 5.
I am glad everyone is sharing letter news for all of us. It helps and brings us closer to our own SR.
doulak (ship 04 div 804) - my husband was funny he always told me hed never go into the military his dad was in it and he hated that lifestyle.... then one day after we got married he started thinking about it, then hed flip flop yes no well maybe.... so i took him to the navy recruiters they told him he was 20lbs overweight.... damn if that boy didnt lose the weight in 6 weeks... I took it as he really wanted to do this, so we chatted about it, I said he could do the initial 6 years and then we'd see how we both feel about it... but he has big plans to do 20y and retire and hes got a whole career plan on moving up and getting a 4 year degree and going up for an officers position.... well shall see...
fondzysgrl(ship 09 DIV 073) - my husband is ship 09 div 073 I just got seven letters as well... it was like Christmas when I opened my mailbox!
@ sailorsgirlforever - Regarding Navy Lodge, that rule applies at every Navy Lodge except for the Great Lakes lodge. At Great Lakes, you need to have your sailor's name, division and PIR date. You do NOT need to have your recruit check you in.
